great finds Val. WTG My dh found a really great train set for Hunter. It was $10 but it doesn't run. I don't think Hunter will even notice that it doesn't run. He loves trains so much.

Oh yeah, I got some really cool antique tapa cloths for the boys at an auction we went to last weekend. I got one for each of them. For a total of $10. No one else at the auction knew what they were but my sons will love them. Especially being Hawaiian. Good heritage thing for them.

I have been doing my Christmas shopping since Jan as some of you know I am about 75% done well today I started down the cellar stairs to go through every thing and I'm looking at 2 feet of water
I've lost every thing about 300.00 in gifts I just want to cry to think now I've got to start all over this late in the game .With 45 + people to buy for this is going to be tough and a stretch so here comes the major challenge to me to see what I can do any frugal ideas are welcomed . Thanks for listening .

Oh Scooby! That's awful! I'm usually a procrastinator. I have a hard enough time getting started about now. But 45 people?! {{{Hugs}}} Here's praying you find some good deals. Maybe some gifts of homemade food products would be cheap and quick?

scooby8themall- Oh no, you poor dear. How awful.

Here are two threads I started in the Christmas forum for inexpensive Christmas gift ideas. Maybe there's something in one of these threads that would be helpful.

scooby8themall... oh noo i am sorry we have a leaky basement too so
i keep the stuff up on tables i have the off seaosn clothes and craft stuff etc doen there too up on a table .
lost alot of clothes the past year though from pulling bins down to look theu them and finding them wet and moldy because i hadnt even realized it leaked back in that area until later on .

do you live near a 5 and below store- they have great stuff for 5$ and under .
if not a crafter i would just watch for great deals - alot of times in the next few weeks theer will be coupons out for 5$ off 5$ or more for hallmawrk and 10 off 10 o rmore in other stores.

sometimes when i am done shopping i still cant let those freebies go to waste so i start for the next year .

That's a hard way to learn a lesson Scooby - and you sure did not deserve it. Am glad that you could save some of it. Good luck - hope you find a lot of great deals!!

Oh Scooby, I'm so sorry! I know what you are going through, because our basement flooded for the first time ever, and I lost a lot, too. I'm glad you at least salvaged some of your gifts.

Added 2 gifts to our gift basket yesterday. An English Leather photo wallet-just for photos in tan suede & beautiful Christmas ornament all boxed up that was an extra gift (you know the ones, where someone just drops in with a gift and you better have a gift to give to them. That generic/unisex kind of gift.) from a long time ago. All this decluttering is unearthing all kinds of Christmas finds.

I got my mother a swarovski crystal bear. It was expensive but there is a story behind it .

My aunt had leukemia 6 years ago and my mom was her bone marrow donor. I just got a call from my mom a few days ago that my aunt is in the hospital dying. My mom is for some reason feeling guilty about my aunt dying. Anyways. I saw this little crystal bear with angel wings on it the very next day and it was perfect. I want my mom to know that she is an angel for giving her sister 6 years that she would not have otherwise had if it wasn't for her.

OK, so this cost $100 which is twice what I had budgeted for my mom but I think it is worth it.
