I need to STICK to my grocery budget. I have a $50 a week budget for grocery, however starting around Thanksgiving we have been going consistantly over by at least $20 A WEEK! We had the money, and were eating some things that we had been really missing, like more expensive cuts of meat and the like. anyway, it's time to get back to the budget, so I'm in. I will start with this week, last week i went $30 over! so this week it's back to cash. if I don't have the cash, we don't buy it!

That is when we know the belt is too tight. Consider scheduling a time when you "allow" the favored meat. Maybe pick a day each month for one of those special meals.

Groceries today came right in at $60CAD...my budget...probably a bit under. I had some non-grocery items (facial tissue was 64cents a box for 3 ply). I have beef and pork for the next 2-3 weeks. Also tanked up on fruit. We're set for the next two weeks for food...unless we want perishables.

Here's my plan. $50/wk goes toward replenishing our regular groceries; $50/wk goes toward our stockpile (mostly meats for the freezer); and $25/wk goes toward household expenses (toilet paper, toothpaste, etc.).

Yesterday, our totals ran like this:

    - $48.60 for regular groceries at one store
    - $46.97 for stockpiled meats
    - $29.98 for 8 rechargable AA batteries
    - $_______ for more regular groceries

We made budget on our stockpile but went over on our regular groceries and household expenses. I will have to make adjustments to see that it comes out of next week's costs.

Didn't shop this past week, so I guess I came in under so far for the year. But, I took a look at the new flyer for this week and it's probably a good thing I didn't go last week...boy they have some great sales.

I came in $1.99 over this week, which for me is excellent. The "can-can" sale was this week at my shoprite, and they had some really good deals for my family. We got some weekly stuff and some stockpile stuff. The extra $1.99 was admitedly something we don't need, however "oreo"-type cookies really do add some extra something to everyday life

    Today I spent $6.46 buying
    Chicken Wings $3.92
    Shredded Cabbage $1.68
    Tomatoes .86 cents

The shredded cabbage is for Cabbage/Ham/Corn chowder. I have everything else. This will be a new soup for me. Hopefully it will be liked, will make a couple days meals and be able to put a freezer bag away for a quickie night.

2 stores are having excellent meat sales so I will be hitting them before my week ending Thursday. UGH!!! But not passing up.

Count me in. I also include everything - including cat and dog food. I intend to make pet food rather than buy it and that means I can use those meats reduced for quick sale for my pets.

Spent $112.64 on groceries today, that puts me over budget for the first half of the month...but, under budget so far for the entire month. I haven't been grocery shopping since December 23rd so I don't feel too bad.

Tomorrow is payday! I made it on $300 the last two weeks. Tomorrow night we celebrate with pork chops! Time to draw up new menus.

One of the big problems that I have is buying too much food at one time and having to dispose of too much waste. For the past few months DH and I have been purposely letting our refrig go bare - and have created some edible, but strange meals.

I am going grocery shopping tomorrow and need to not go crazy - moderation will be my mantra!! Need to plan more too. Another process, but well worth it!!
