Decided we need to use up the Swiss Chard in the fridge. Tonight's meal is Swiss Chard Pie.

DH was paid today. I spent $2.35 on groceries for the next four days!

HOLY MOLY! I went to Kroger today and prices went UP, UP, UP from last week.

Examples: milk - up 50 cents, peanut butter - up a quarter, coffee - up $.

I am SO glad I have my stockpile and I can shop and buy pretty much when things are on sale, have coupons, etc. I am also glad I discovered the salvage store last year.

Our milk went from $2.79 to $3.19 about 3 months ago. Coffee just did a jump about 50 cents about 3 weeks ago. Alot of canned food, especially veggies, went up 10 cents.

Fraid with the weather we've all been having this won't be the end of it.

Went to Publix. Now over $3.81 for month and it's the 18th. Still better by long shot. Had $16.39 in coupons/savings. Figure I'll hit $175 by months end

Groceries today rang in at $80...double what I expected. however it should be most of what we need for the next 2 weeks. I may need to buy something next week. But it shouldn't be much. I was surprised the sales weren't that good this month so far. The usual Dollar Daze has given way to "300 items under $2"...well, that's not a sale! LOTS of things in the grocery store are under $2!

I will join in on this one I'm simply tracking the grocery spending for this month. Should come in a bit over $400. That includes the small amount of stockpiling I've been doing, but it doesn't include HBA or household supplies...just food. I will base my goals on the monthly average, because some weeks are more than others. The goal for February will be $400 max and then I'll try to reduce it by $10/month after that. Should be at $300/month by the end of 2010.

Yesterday spent $10.98 with Savings $5.71. Puts me up to $164.76 for month. $14.76 over my $150 maximum and will have to get a few things yet. But this is nowhere near what I was doing a month when I was stockpiling. As others have said, not passing up really good sales.

I spent $73.70 yesterday. Mostly, it was good stuff: fruit and veggies. I did cave in and buy some pre-fried chicken. I regretted it upon coming home and tasting it, but the parrots seemed to like it, so it is in the freezer and will be portioned out sparingly.

So far I am over two weeks and under two weeks for the month.

I was only over by $1.04 this week, and would have been way under if I hadn't had several b1g1 coupons that will be expiring soon.

This is so much better than I use to do at the grocery store when I didn't give a conscience effort to keeping the food bill down.

Even with planning a menu, we often don't fix everything on the menu due to eating leftovers more often than I thought we would, or my son just being in the mood for a can of soup rather than a complete meal. So Ive learned to just take one nights meat out of the freezer at a time and change the menu around accordingly.
