I'm going to clean my bedroom today and move the furniture so hopefully I'll find some to add to mine

We were leaving Wal-Mart last week and a shiny glint in the parking lot caught my eye . It was a penny (a badly beaten up little penny, lol) and I had a moment of discussion in my head:

    Me: There's a penny!
    My head: Yep
Me: Should I pick it up?
My head: OMG people are looking. It's only a penny.
Me: But it's a PENNY. CHANGE. Change jar fodder.
My head: It's ONLY a penny
    Me: Well . . . it IS on heads . . . good luck?
My head: Hmm. That excuse works for me. Go ahead and pick it up.

I'm not kidding . . . I squatted down in the middle of the parking lot to pick this little beat up penny up and put it in my pocket. And the whole time I'm thinking "If somebody asks me what I'm doing . . . it's on heads . . . it's good luck . . . "

I think I'll keep that poor little penny on my dresser as a reminder that frugality might be odd to some people, but it's okay by me!

Found a penny while doing laundry. Had 86 cents in change from breaking a dollar.

Tossed it all in the jar!

I'm going to use the change jar this year for DD10's cheerleading expenses. $40 a month plus the other odds and ends that come up like comp fees, etc.

I'm in. I'm pretty sure I'll just count change once a month and deposit then. We often have to dip into it at the end of the month to get by.

I have roped hubby into donating his change towards the change jar/xmas challenge. His current bowl had $45.65 in it. So altogether now we have $62.15. I am amending our goal to be $600 now.

Edit to add - I just found another $1.25. So we are now up to $63.40.

All the coins are divided in to separate bags and ill deposit them this week.

We are starting the year with $10.54 in the change jar! It might not get much added to it this month though since it is a no spend month for us!

The last week of Dec. we deposited our change jar. So, we started the new year with nothing, but I did add $1.27 to it last night. Told husband from now on we're saving our change jar and depositing it when it reaches full. I don't know what I want to do with it yet. Trying to decide if we should treat ourselves with it or put it into savings. I'll need to decide before it's full. Our Jar holds somewhere around $50.
