    Default 2017 Spend Nothing Challenge

Post on whether you spent that day or did NOT spend. Monthly bills do NOT count. They are a fact of life. Set a goal of how many spend days a month you want to shoot for.

Doesn't look like this one has been started yet, so I'll kick it off. Our goal is to go at least the first 14 days of January without spending money. The main things to avoid are grocery stores, since our food bill is crazy high. When we see how January goes, we'll set the goal for the rest of the year.
    Total paid/saved: $118 900
    Total goal: $290 900
    To do: $172 000

The only money we have spent since new year, is for postage for some delayed Christmas presents, and for a pound of coffee. The last one was a bit annoying; I thought I had several pounds in the stockpile, but we were down to our last bag. Normally we buy them across the border for $7/pound, yesterday in the local grocery store it cost us $9.

I'm starting small on my no-spend goals as last year was awful in this area for us. So the goal is 15 for January. Yesterday and today we're both no-spend days for us! I resisted the temptation to get coffee which was so difficult, but I reminded myself of my goal to sip down some of my tea stash so I did that instead!
Focus on getting ahead, one penny at a time! Keep the main thing the main thing!

The temperature outside is approaching 0F, and inside it was 57 when I got home from work. DH went and got us some more firewood, so we have spent $16 today, not 0.
