I was losing all control of the food budget. I try for $400/mth and that includes toiletries and such. I was doubling that! And leftovers getting tossed, spending on Starbucks, Einstein.... Well, not anymore. My lunches will be with me. And I won't cook too much.

I did buy some face creams and hair products that do cost quite a bit. I hope to get them to last and then try to find alternatives.

It can be a steal but if we don't need it or shouldn't be eating it I have to leave it behind. I passed on halloween candy, and christmas. I've got enough frozen chicken to keep us fed into February, no buying more until that is gone. Stuff gets lost in the pantry and goes bad. So many half opened bags of chips, if they were giving them away for free I'd say NO!

It's not a deal if it goes bad or gets tossed later.
Stop trying to organize all of your family’s crap. If organization worked for you, you’d have rocked it by now. It’s time to ditch stuff and de-crapify your world.

If you're not using the stuff in your home, get rid of it. You're not going to start using it more by shoving it into a closet.

Use it up, Wear it out,
Make it do, Or do without. ~unknown

A clean house is a sign of a wasted life. ~unknown

    Agree, CH.

We have a Rule Of One. If it's food we shouldn't be eating, we try to just buy one. Less damage that way. We've gotten really good at avoiding the close out candy too. If we do buy, we generally apply ROO.

We don't have a grocery budget. If we forget to add something to the list, or if we come across really great deals, we stock up. A week ago it was eggs at .99 a dozen. We bought 19 dozen and scrambled, cooked, and froze 16 dozen for dog food. This week it was cottage cheese at .50 a lb. I bought 24 and froze that for dog food too.

I went a little bit over budget because I placed a large Target delivery order to stock the pantry and reduce shopping over the next few months. I'm going to stock up on meats for the freezer when I see sales. Looking for a deal on ham to start off 2019.
