We are a family of 2. Right now my pantry and freezer are very full. I am going to try for just 40.00 a week in January for produce. I will also do an additional 40.00 every other week for household products if needed. If I dont spend it all I will just add to February budget.

I am working on using up and wasting no food.

family of 4 and 3 cats. I include household stuff like soap, detergent and pet food in the weekly budget. planning on $150 a week but I am so stocked up from before xmas that I don't need much. just fresh stuff like fruit, dairy, bread, lunchmeat and more pet food. so about $60 for the next while. milk is $5 a gallon so adds up fast. need to do amazon k cup order too of coffee.

That didn't go as planned, I'm already at $130 and there's till almost 3wks left. Oh well, guess I'll just set my normal goal, $275.

Same budget for February. I need to buy more fruits/vegetables, and stop eating so much starchy food & protein. The cake I made last week was a bad idea for example. I do have a dozen cans of vegs in the pantry, maybe use those first.

Slow on the posting on this one. If I HAD posted my budget would have said $250... which as I've said before.. I don't know if this is even reasonable anymore. I seldom make it. Mine includes everything... HBA, pet 2 tiny dogs and one cat... with one small baby dog on prescription food, OTC meds and edibles. 2 of us with kid eating at home sometimes.

January my total was $298.48 best I can figure. Lot better than previous months. Also used another $174.22 in coupons, sales etc. In all fairness though there was a good deal of stockpiling going on due to him/us retiring before much longer. So again I don't know if $250 is reasonable. It will just about have to be at the point we retire. I'm trying to stockpile higher priced items so they won't have to be bought soon after we retire and we can adjust to the limited income gradually.

Will post for February soon as I tally up. I think I'll say $250 again but I see Winn Dixie has the large cannisters of Folgers for $5.99 and Dollar General has large cannisters of Coffeemate for $4.95 so... I may increase that. Those are for us big ticket items that store well and would help with grocery budget for awhile when the time comes. Yeah... probably more for the month. Will repost when I get it together.
