    Default April Grocery Challenge

Hi all! I'm counting this week as April in the grocery challenge (you may do whatever you wish) so I thought I'd get the thread going. I did not meet my $175 goal for March, but wasn't that far over, so I am going to set my April goal at $175. This may be tricky, especially since I spent so much today, but I think today's shop was great in terms of stocking up for the month. Lots of produce, meat, and chicken, though, so not a lot of coupon savings.

    Grower's Pride OJ - $1.39
1 gallon skim milk - $1.99 (sale price)
    4 Huggies wipes - (normally $3.29 each, sale & coupon $1.50 each)
3 big boxes Ritz crackers - (normally $2.79 each, sale & coupon $1.29 each)
4 packs Perdue Fit and Lean chicken breast - avg. $3.56 each (sale)
    1 loaf bread - $0.99
Evenflo Nursing Pads - $2.99 - Trust me, I know how much more frugal the washable ones are instead of the disposable, but I used them with Julia and I felt like I spent my life washing them...I'm sacrificing a bit of cash for comfort on this item.
4 packs 93% lean ground beef - avg. $4.86 (sale)
3 beef round bottom roasts - avg. $6.07 each (sale)
4 boxes Total Raisin Bran - normally $3.99 each, sale coupon $2.24 each)
2 12 packs Cottonelle toilet paper - normally $4.00 each, sale & coupon $2.50 each)
PediaCare - $4.99 (the baby has a cold)
    Sudafed Children's - $5.29 (Julia still has a cold)
    4.10 lbs grapes - $4.06
    2.94 lbs Granny Smith Apples - $4.38
    2 lbs baby carrots - $3.78

Total before Coupons and Sales - $127.44
    Total After - $105.28

    Goal for April: $175.00
    Spent So Far: $105.28

    Yearly Total: $698.01

I am making my goal $350.00 for this month. I did ok last month, but came really close to going over.

I am including yesterday's shopping trip into April's challenge, since it will be eaten in April.

I will add the totals up later and post them.

Ok, now that I've got my handy coupon notebook put together, I may as well try this challenge, too. I'm going to set my goal for $300, as we're due to make our bi-monthly trip to Sam's and stock up on some bigger things. That amount is to include all food, cleaning, and paper products for the month, feeding three adults (we send meals to DH's grandma) and one baby.

Of course, I am figuring in there about $85 per month for formula, but this month DD can switch to whole milk, which will be MUCH cheaper, so maybe I won't need quite so much $$$.... we'll see!

Setting our goal at $200 for the month. This includes all food eaten at home, paper products and pet products for 2 adults, 3 teenaged boys and their friends, 5 hungry cats who also go through 2 bags of cat litter a week and company.

May I join this Challenge too?

I really need to work on this! I give myself a food budget, but after looking at all of your food budget numbers I feel like I could do much, much better!!!

So for April I am setting my food budget for $200. This will include a trip to Costco for a few items. My budget is for two adults (but DH eats the amount for three adults at dinner). It also includes all toiletries, cleaning products, health & beauty & paper products.

I am stepping on up to the plate and am joining the challenge for the month of April. I would really like to see my grocery bill come in under $400.00

This is for 1-2 adults and 3 teens and 1 pre-teen and 3 toddlers 2-3 days per week.

I'll stick with my usual goal of 300$ for grocery's/eating out for family of three.
I ended up going over for March because we threw a bar b que unexpectedly, spent about 20$ just on the meat alone for everyone.

I'll try for $325 this month. I haven't been keeping track the past two months so I really need to get back on track.

I am going to set my goal for the month at $300.00. It has been running about $400.00 a month as my youngest son was laid off and my hubby and I have been buying groceries for his family of 5. He now has a job and prayerfully things will get better.
This $300.00 will include groceries and all household items as well as eating out. We ususally eat out at least once a week-end. However, I intend to do more cooking at home on week-ends and not so much eating out.

I'm going to set my goal at $300 again. I did go over for March, but just a small amount. This does not include pet food.

I came in way under my goal of $250 for March so I can lower mine again. I will set it at $200 for April, I think I could go lower but I may be doing a little more shopping this month. I have been using up all the meat in the freezer and will have to restock.

This is for 2 adults, 10 indoor cats (food and litter) many outdoor cats (food).
