I am so serious about making my budget work this month.......with dd being in college now and commuting 40 miles a day/5 days a week the added cost of gas it going to kill us and so I have to cut somewhere!!

My goal is $300 this month!

Well last month was VERY unusual. I spent $500 on a bulk foods order, on TOP of my usual spending ($400/month). OTOH, I now have a great pantry! I'm thinking $300 combined for October and November. That will bring my 3 month total to $1200, which is about right. I'll make another bulk purchase at the end of November/begining of December. I'm working on a plan to purchase quarterly from the bulk place and Costco, plus buy milk and produce weekly or so. I would then rarely set foot in a 'regular' grocery store. I buy milk & sometimes produce at the healthfood store, and sometimes produce at the fruit market. This is a big step for me, but doing so allows us to go about 75% to 90% organic and not increase spending at all!

Editing October 2nd - Spent $46 today on: apples, bananas, garlic, grapes, avocado, green onion, celery, carrots, baby carrots (for dh's lunches), molasses, canned pineapple, liquid smoke, chips and pop (for dh). I also bought some canned peaches and pears to stockpile long term.

    Hello

I am new here (in posting). I have been reading everyone's posts and hopefully this will kick my frugality into high gear.
My grocery goal for the month of October is to spend $200. This is to feed 3 people. I have meat in the freezer since I bought a side of beef and a pig, so mostly I will need pantry items. Wish me luck.

I'm joining this month. Gonna set my goal for $400. That includes food, pet food, cleaning supplies, etc. Basically, anything that I buy at SAL, WM, or Dollar General. Good luck everyone!

    Mine is the usual: $525.

    Here's how it'll break down:

$100 - stock up trips (Commissary, Sam's Club)
    $100 - SHARE co-op

    Leaves $325 for local store purchases. That's $65/wk for Oct 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31.

I only get to the commissary about 3 or 4 times a year. I'm already working on my list, cuz we're going this month!

Well dare I to say it. We have no choice but to spend only $175 Canadian on everything (pet food, TP etc.) for a family of 5. This includes some of my projected part time earnings. The rest of my earnings goes twords my upcoming insurance bill. If I go over $175 it means we will run out of money before the next installment of student loans. So I don't have a choice.
    Spent $23 today.

I am once again going to try for $250 (myself and SO). I was a little over last month, not quite $50 but almost.
