    Exclamation October debt challenge

I totally forgot about starting this thread. Someone reminded me, thank you for doing so.

Each month our challenge has increased by small amounts. We will keep right on track doing that. This month's challenge will be to put $33.00 extra towards your debt (or more if you can).

There are many ways to find the extra $$. Cut out that extra coffee you might purchase on your way to work. Don't buy the newspaper. Save your change and add it up. Cut out renting videos for a month. Look around and see - it's amazing to see what everyone has come up with over the past several months.

    Who is in with me?

*sigh* I'm in this month but only through default. One student loan has come due and so we will be squeezing an extra $74 from the budget. Dh has agreed to forego his spending money (an extra $30) and we will up our grocery bill so that there will be no more meals out---hopefully the $44. Also have canceled an online gaming subscription--extra $15.

I can't wait until January and tax refunds. And sweet, sweet Christmas money.

Does this even count since it's new debt being paid on? Oh well, it's all still debt being paid OFF.

I am in. I find this thread motivates me to pay attention during the month and to look for "extra" dollars. Can't wait to be able to say debt # 1 is paid off!

I'm in....it will be put toward a smaller debt that I want to get paid off by end of month.

Here are a couple ways I've thought of already to "find" the money in the budget.

    1. Cutting back sattelite subscription as much as other half let me ( savings 12.00) He is really okay as long as he get the basics tho, plus he's not home that much.

    2. Starting to turn off the hot water heater and turn it on just long enough to heat water for hopefully shorter showers.

    3. No eating out this month. At all. I gotta get that small bill paid off, it will give me about $175.00 to put toward the next smallest debt. YAY

I'm going to TRY and avoid going anywhere with friends. Which is the hardest to do. I've got a couple who like to call me up and go with them on their errands, and then they want to stop and eat lunch and such. They really don't understand me, lol . They think I'm weird( like hermit weird) because I hardly go anywhere as it is !But if I go , it creates temptation I don't need.

But I love em, just wish they would be happy with visiting at home, instead of going to lunch .

I'm in too. Since I've had money over the last month or so I've really wasted a lot, I need as many challenges as I can cope with to focus my mind!

    I'm in.

Hoping to make at least $50 from Ebay to add in addition to the extra that we already have budgeted to pay this month.

Default This will be a challenge!

We just paid our taxes ($1,400), maxed out our IRAs for 2005 (extra $1,600 this month), paid our credit card bills ($1,400 - we pay the balances every month- I REFUSE to pay interest), and paid $4,000 for a new chimney.

Everything is gone- checking and both savings accounts - so I need to find extra cash this month just to get by.

I know .....a little mismanagement. I thought we had the extra for the IRAs, but then the chimney guy came sooner than expected. He got the job done and then wanted paid. The nerve!

We should have enough to pay all the bills, but I'm not comfortable without any "cash" savings. It would be great to save and pay down a little debt. I'm sure I can hit $33.00!

Thanks for the challenge and the inspiration!
