    Exclamation April no spend challenge

Alright ladies, here is your no spend challenge for April.

I did much better in March than I did in Feb. Now I want to even do better.

    Anyone in?

Is this the challenge where you pick a day to not spend any money?

I made it to 28 no spend days in March, shooting for 27 in April.

Wendy, this is a challenge to see how many days you can go without any spending with the exception of groceries and paying bills.

Oh wow, you girls are hardcore!!

I think I'm already out of the challenge. This morning, I went shopping at an electronics store where they had video games on sale. I spent $53.00 and saved $51.00!! Dh and dd LOVE video games.

Do you all count your dh's spending in on this?

Wendy, it's up to you whether you want to count your dh's spending.

Also you do not include medications in your amount.

One thing about this challenge, it has really made me stop to think about whether I really need what I think I do. I haven't made a full month yet, however that's my goal to have at least one month of no spend days by the end of 2006.

I'm in - I'm on maternity leave now so really need to be watching my spending! I didn't spend anything today, so that's 1 down, 29 to go!

Maybe the best thing is to do (since this would be my first no spend challenge) is shoot for one day this month. Next month, I'll shoot for two. I like building things up slowly. Usually if I get all gung-ho, I'll wear myself out. This seems difficult, which makes me like it even better! I like a good challenge! Thanks!

I do count my hubby in (with the exception of gas for his truck) but we've been hard core for a while. We had a deal here at our house that if I bought the land in front of us we'd knuckle down BIG time on everything! I bought the land, he doesn't get the check book, lol.

It wouldn't work for many but it's more of a "have to" on our place.

And one thing that really helps is a little post it note in the wallet saying "do I WANT it or do I NEED IT?" Stops the spending every time for us, lol!

That's great that your hubby is understanding. Mine is too, to a degree. He agrees that I should manage our money. And honestly, he's come a long way since we got married a year ago. As long as he can get a video game about once a month, he seems pretty satisfied...so far.

Well, I have spent nothing today, so I'm in. We will be spending quite a bit next week to have some trees removed, but that was already scheduled. When I buy gas for my car, does that ruin my day? I am new to this.

Ok. One more time I am going to try this. I did not do well in Feb. or March. My big problem is my teenage girls. I eat lunch out 3 times a week and that is my big spending. Otherwise, it is just groceries, gas and the like. My girls are always wanting money for something. Tonight, for instance, they wanted to go skating with their friends. They have their own skates, so they just have to pay admission. I gave them the money for this and told them if they decided to have a drink or snack they would have to use their allowance. They were on spring break this week and went bowling Tuesday night...wasn't expensive...Tues nights it's $3 per game for game and shoes. They only played one game so it cost me $6. I have been counting this because it is unneccessary. Do others include this type of spending? Anyway, that seems to be my downfall. I am going to try again, though.

I'm in. I'm pleased with how March went. My goal for April is 18 no-spend days.

I would like to give this a try. I already spent today at grocery store, week days are easy...it's those weekends that get me. My first no-spend challenge so I''ll try for 15 no spend days.
