Knit-wits
My little knitting club at school is really coming along. All together we have about 10 baby hats knitted. That's just meeting two times per week since Oct.
I have four girls who meet in my classroom for "girl talk" and knitting. We call ourselves the "Knit-wits." The rule is you can't gossip about anybody, and we make baby hats for Arkansas Children's Hospital.
One of my fellow teachers is going to go with me and the girls to Little Rock to deliver the hats in Feb. We're going to take them to eat a "nice lunch"--anything other than fastfood. They are so excited!

What a sweet thing to be doing. I love that the girls can't gossip. You are teaching them in such a wonderful way. I'm totally impressed.

I agree! I quit TWO knitting groups because the gossip level was intolerable!

That's so cool! What a great way to encourage them as they are growing up, to be useful and to share with others and I bet this will create memories for them that last a long time.

They are really precious girls. After the trip to ACH in Feb. I'm going to teach them some more traditional stitches: knit, purl. So far they are just using the knifty knitters. I can tell they love it because they'll start talking about the next project before they finish the one they're on! I feel fortunate that they want to spend time doing something away from their main group of friends and spending it with me!

What a great thing to do. How old are the girls?
