Ready to start, I think
I've been a member for awhile, but for various reasons, I'm just now getting serious. My ultimate goal is to save enough money to get to and live off-grid in Alaska(I've finally had it with human society,) so I figure I will need all the help I can get. What kind of tips can ya'll provide?

Alaska---cool! (Pun intended!)
There is a thread here at FV, I think, on off-the-grid preps/living. I would read up on everything I could find about it, and about it in Alaska in particular.

If you're young enough and healthy enough get a part time job and save it. Read everything you can on what you're getting yourself into.
Plan on taking as much money as you can with you. Alaska is expensive. My mother and siblings used to live there and it hasn't gotten any better. Pay may be more but so is everything else.
Join some kind of website with others who are already doing this there. Facebook probably has groups dedicated to it even in Alaska.
Basically know what you're signing up for and make/save all the money you can.
Alaska is beautiful but costly. Even off grid.Bank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. When the world ends the only things that will be left are cockroaches, Walmart, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Not necessarily in that order. The order remains to be seen.
