well.. this year, not being a 'usual', I will chill at a friend's house. Have some drinks and probably watch a movie (hope I don't fall asleep.)

I have never been out to a big bash on NYE. Not a party girl. We usually have a treat at home, wine coolers and chips and dip. THis year we are having cake and ice cream sundaes.
NYD (1/1) is our anniversary so I fix a nice dinner while DH watches football. Hubba-hubba.

The first few years after we got married we would go out to dinner for our anniversary. Then I started getting the sad puppy eyes, and did I really want him to miss all those FB games on TV?
So I would just as soon cook at home, I love to cook, and keep DH happy.

Happy early anniversary josantoro! Why not have the best of both worlds - let DH watch his football and go out a couple of days after, hopefully when all the New Years hype along with its hyped up pricing is over? (should you want to go out to celebrate)

When the kids starting going out we started staying in. I really hated New Years Eve being at a party and having to stay because of the New Year. We have a nice dinner and turn in early. Just a couple of old folks now!

Normally, I cook up a feast of appetizers for us. I refuse to be out on the road NYE and OldMan and I would rather spend it with Diva than at some over-priced hotel.

This year, the list of gourmet goodies is a lot smaller (still unemployed, still not collecting).
    - Ham & cheese pinwheels
    - homemade pizza rolls
    - chips & dip

Everything else will stay the same...
We get in to our jammies at 6pm and make party hats from construction paper.
We'll play games, like Monopoly, Life and Rummy, by candle-light (I have a LOT of candles)
Have little nibbles through the night and turn on the countdown around 11.

We make baklava and have sparkling grape juice. We're pretty low key. This year we are going to a local coffeehouse which will be having live music and free coffee all night.

In addition to spending it hanging with my friend - I will take a ski lesson at a mountain I have a ski pass to.

    Cheers!

Usually we just have a nice meal and do a family movie night or take the kids to the movie theater. We only go to the theater once or twice a year.
Last year, the kids stayed up to watch the ball drop. Some years we buy hats, balloons, party horns, etc. Some years, we don't.
This year, Gabe is working at the rink, so the kids will be skating at a fun event at the rink (balloon drop, party horns, hats, games, prizes, etc) and Gabe and I plan to take advantage of the New Year's dinner package at the restaurant that's attached to the rink. It includes appetizers, meal, dessert, drinks. We're taking the kids to the movies during the day, too.
