    Default Tick Season!

Wesley has been playing outside a lot lately and last night as I was reading his book, I was playing with his hair.

And I felt something. And as soon as my fingers brushed up against it...I knew exactly what it was: A DISGUSTING TICK

We live in a suburban area. We have some mature trees, but not what you think of when you think of 'prime tick locations'. This is the first time Wesley has EVER had a tick. I grew up playing in the woods and outdoors, so ticks don't bother me as a person...but to think of them through a parental scope just eeks me out.

So, here is a fairly detailed article regarding ticks. Make sure to check yourself, your kiddos, your pets if you live in an area where ticks thrive!

No clue. And at the time, I didn't think to check. With the luck that we have had medically with Wesley, I honestly would not be surprised at all if he ended up with Lyme Disease. The kid loves to kill statistics.

garlic is awsome for keeping away ticks... I spread it on our yard and it keeps them away... We have a major tick problem here (I was pulling 10 or more off our 2 dogs at night and the kids) Also you can eat garlic that helps also..

Our yard is tick heaven especially if the lawn gets a little longish. I think I've pulled more off myself than the dogs. They are vile little creatures, aren't they?

I've had a deer tick or two on myself with no problems.

I have lyme disease as a result of a deer tick. Not fun. Its a real epidemic in our area.

It sounds gross, but save the tick in a baggie and have your doctor run a test. Lyme symptoms can really vary, but if not treated can be very serious and long term.

I got another tick last weekend and had to have it tested. They can't just test me any more because I just come up positive every time.

    Poor Wes!

DS just found a tick on him yesterday, the dog had one and there were two walking on the floor. It is going to be a bad year. Make sure you look at the tick next time to see what type it is. Lyme disease is no fun. I would rather deal with spiders, snakes or any other creepy crawly than a tick. They just freak me out!

Ticks abound here too, found one the other day trying to attach itself to my neck. Bloodsucking heathen.

~We've treated our suburban yard with pesticide granules for years. Kills off most of the ants, crickets and ticks. Buggies creep me out. We always do a "tick check" when the kids come in from playing and again at bath time. Sometimes they come in on clothes but don't make their way to skin until hours later. Creepy little things..... :/ ~

I found one on my grandson a little while ago, he was climbing a tree earlier in the day. I gave him his bath, i scrubbed his head, then he came to me and said nana i have something stuck on my head. I did get the whole thing and saved in a small zip bag.

Ticks freak me out! They're so much like spiders which REALLY freak me out! We have a ton of trees in our yard, but they haven't ever been a problem here for us...knock wood! Does anyone else have the itchies now?
