Default oh the fleas came back , they just wouldnt stay away.

oh, the fleas came back the very next day.........

I have been fighting fleas for two months and I cant take it anymore.

First we cleaned and cleaned , bathed them and put flea collars on.
Second we put advantage on them and cleaned and cleaned again. Dh sprayed down the patio they stay on. But they came back again.

So dh is bathing them all tonight in super dip . I was scared to use it becuase its hazarous but I dont know what else to do. I just dryed and brushed the first one and didnt find anything alive so it atleast killed all of them for now. I will spend all day tomarrow cleaning. Then I am going to call pest control to come out on a regular basis. Something else I didnt want to pay for but I just dont know what else to do. It's this horrible hot weather we have been haveing. The darn fleas just keep breading becuase we don't have any cold to kill them off.

I have three cats so I just cant afford to spend 50 a month on Advantage or frontline.

Bathe them in Dawn dish soap, yes the cats too, Dawn is SPECTACULAR at killing fleas. And really if it's warm year round the yard will need to be treated also, you can kill them all in the house but the next round will just hitch hike in.

Sorry you're going through this, but thank you for making me find ONE positive thing in this nasty stinking weather we're having here, ugh

Also, it's important to keep the pets on at least a 3 month regimine of Frontline/Advantix. But in Florida they really should be on it year round.

Also, try this for the house. Buy from the $ Store night lights and place one in each room. Under each night light place a glass plate/shallow bowl with Dawn blue dish soap with water 1/2 inch deep or place at several sunny places in front of a door and/or window. The fleas jump in and die. Change the water every day and in less that 1-2 wks ALL fleas should be gone. Good Luck!

I dont want to do flea bombs unless its absolutly a must. Since most of the house is tile and we have very little apolsterd furniture I can vaccume most anything. I have small children so the bombs scare me.

Frugafarmwife- thanks for the tip about dawn. I had no idea.

We have lived in florida all our lives and our cats are 9 yrs old. In 9 yrs they have only gotten fleas 3 times, this being one of them. The other two times we got rid of them fast and easy. Our cats do not go outdoors at all , ever! The only thing I can figure is I must be bringing them in either from my yard or from my bil's dog.

I can imagine how desperate you are feeling, but flea collars and flea dips really aren't good for them. Someone had a good suggestion about bathing in Dawn, and be sure you are using the actual brand name Advantage, ask your vet but you can probably re-apply in 3 weeks instead of 4 while you're trying to get everything under control. Also, having a professional flea treat your house and/or yard is probably a good idea if it's really bad.

We use Lemon Fresh Joy for the fleas here it's amazing how it gets the fleas and the cats don't mind it either.

Oh the fleas came back..they couldn't stay away....they were back on the cat...the very next day!!! I love that song!

I use the Dawn soap too. Seems to keep them down to a small minimum. The flea stuff seems like the little buggers are immune to it. So we just bathe in Dawn. Good luck

to treat the yard, take one of those sprayer's that you would use for a rose treatment, you know the kind that screw onto the water hose. fill it with one cup of dawn dishsoap and then the rest of the way with bleach. attach it to the water hose, and then treat the whole yard. the soap and the bleach will stick to the grass and kill the fleas and ticks!
you need to do this at least once a month, right after you cut the grass.
we start this as soon as the last frost and go until the first frost. we also wash our dogs in the dawn.
aslo, we feed our dogs garlic. that helps also. the fleas hate garlic!

I would also put a flea collar in the bag on your vaccuum cleaner.

As far as I know, garlic is not recommended for feeding dogs/cats. Garlic and onions make them anemic and they can die if they get enough.
