I am curious what happened to cause you to take such a drastic step.
The website is awesome. I plan on printing out alot of pages for future use.
some are pdf so you can just save them and read them later. TONS of info. I really like the site

To answer the 'why' I decided to begin my family evacuation; I'll try to be concise:
Almost all of my personal pandemic 'triggers' have been met and which were designed for a series of actions that my family would execute, consisting of the following:
1.) Rapid rise of infections and fatalities in Asia (China met this trigger in January 09)
2.) Civil and/or military intervention in transportation or evacuation of it's citizens (Japan met this trigger this week)
3.) Disbursement of a Tamiflu drug 'blanket' to contain human-to-human clusters of transmission of H5N1 (Indonesia & Viet Nam met this trigger 10 days ago, plus others)
4.) Widely separated cases of H5N1 in the same country within a 10 day period (Thailand, Viet Nam, Indonesia, China, Bangladesh all met this one)
5.) Escalating cases of fatalities within a 30 day time frame, but reported and confirmed late (all the above and add Egypt, Laos, Burma)
6.) Government suppression of news of cases and fatalities (again China, Burma, Indonesia), deployment of military response teams to quarantine
7.) Inability to contain HPI bird strain H5N1 leading to human infection (every single country mentioned before plus others)
There are (were) other triggers tied to the US government reactions most notably CIDRAP & CDC that I paid VERY close attention too. Once those were also met, our pandemic evacuation plan was placed into motion.
I will leave my website up online, but for the foreseeable future it will not be updated. Take care.

What freaks me out is the lack of media attention. Last week watching the news, a single line of scrolling print at the bottom of the screen mentioned the virus had broken out in British Columbia and 40,000 plus turkeys were put down to contain it. I had to Google to find out anything about it. It should have been at least a minute blurb on my news station. Nothing. I've been watching the local news and Canada News Net everyday.
The article just says that "the strain of avian influenza found in an Abbotsford turkey barn two weeks ago has been identified as H5N2, and has low pathogenicity".
I was talking to another supervisor at work and mentioned holding onto gold a while back.She told her husband and they decided to hold on to a gold watch that they were going to sell. When she heard gold had went up over $150 an ounce since I told her, She was quite happy. I casually mentioned about having enough food in case Bird Flu breaks out. I mentioned all the bird flu cases around the world and she told me where do you hear this stuff , you are scaring me. Most people don't want to know. And the news is glossing over it.
