Update on QuilterMom - Sept. 10th
I received this information just a few mins. ago.
~
Her phone is working for now.
They are being well taken care of by Red Cross, FEMA and Salvation Army so they are not in need of anything!!!!!! She is able to get ice a couple of times a day and water and food.......military rations (not sure of the actual name for them, they come in pouches) and she says they aren't bad. They are very concerned about her little guy and keeping him hydrated and cool......their heat index today is 101 and it has been that way for days. There is no air circulating in the house......most of it is still boarded up and will remain that way until the threat of IVAN is done. She asked for prayers for him.
IVAN is a threat........they are getting conflicting news on it.......she said no matter what happens they will be staying in their home.......they are really only expecting high winds and rain but nothing life threatening. They are not evacuating this time. She is concerned that trash is not being removed.....they have had to clear out downed trees and debris and it is all sitting out by their road........if they get really high winds that stuff will be launched into the air and become dangerous. She has seen the trucks out but they continue to pass by her home without stopping.
She seems to be in good spirits today.......we spoke for a couple of hours and she laughed a little so that was good to hear!!!! She spent some time at the library today......did homeschooling with her son and he was able to use the computer to play Magic School Bus games. There is no internet service so she still can't email anyone. She said the library was so cold......it was nice!!!!
She appreciates everyone's prayers and hugs and support and wanted me to let you know to let them know that they are doing fine........as well as can be expected and that she doesn't need anything since they are able to get all the supplies she needs from the different agencies in her area!

CJ, Thank you so much for keeping us updated. DH and I are constantly scanning news reports both on TV and internet as we know quite a few people in Florida and other places hit by the hurricanes.
It is great that Quiltermom and her family are being looked after by various agancies. I think I will make a donation to Red Cross so that they can continue to help out.

Glad to hear she and her famly are hanging in and are doing ok. I hope she has a plan "b" going in case Ivan does come calling. I'm still worried for her and so many others.

I am so glad she's okay. It has been a long weary week.
We're now waiting for Ivan to hit our coast this time. Please say a prayer for the people in Florida. Everybody is very stressed and tired.

Thank you CJ for the update. I'm so glad that they are getting the help they need and were able to spend some time at the library where it was cooler. Praying for their continued safety and that those big trees and things get picked up before the next storm hits them. Big
to QM, her family and to you CJ for being such a wonderful friend!
