teaching our kids about danger
My kids are still quite young, so we've only touched based on stranger danger, inadequate "touching", if there is a fire or tornado, and power outage, and what to do if they see a gun. We need to start teaching about being lost and so many other things.
What types of dangers have you taught your kids about.

I taught my boys about saying NO! to bad touching when they were very young.
We didn't teach them stranger danger we taught them about never going with ANYONE unless DH or I told them to.
We taught them to go to a woman and ask for help if they were lost.
We taught them not to touch strange dogs or spiders and snakes.
We showed them how to cross a road safely.
We taught them never to walk out from behind anything without stopping and looking first.
We taught them about hot things and fires.
@ the gun! I have never seen a real gun. They aren't all that common here but I guess that's a big danger over there.

This is a real toughie for us because I'm not sure how much the boys understand of this.
~we've taught them not to speak to strangers if we aren't there
~we've taught them not to take candy, etc from strangers
~we've taught them hot and ice cold
~we've discussed with them what to do if they hear of tornado warnings
~we've taught them how to get out of the house (upstairs especially) if there is a fire
~we've taught them what to do should they hear the fire alarm going off
~how to cross the street
~which side of the road to walk on

I'm not sure where my kids would see a gun since we don't own one, but they teach it in school here too.
There was an incident not far from here with a student that brought a gun to school. Lots of hunters here.
