Question Family Dollar or Dollar General

Our tax refund is supposed to be here 2/24 and I'd like to stock up on shampoo's,toilet paper, baby wipes,toothpaste....where should I go? Family Dollar is closest to me but I like that Walgreens give you store bucks....at the same time tho, its a 30min drive so I don't see us going there often. (nevermind on Walgreens. its more than 30min away ) So Dollar General or Family Dollar?

    Thanks

My Family Dollar is more expensive oz for oz on most items I have priced there. I haven't been to Dollar General. Target & K-Mart are cheaper. Watch your prices! I think I would just watch for some good sales on the products you use and stock up little by little.

Rite-Aid may have their ad online at their website. If your printer is out of commission, you should still be able to pull it up and then hand-write your list.

Not sure if you have a Sam's Club close but there is a free one day pass that another member posted about: [ame="https://www.frugalvillage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=116266"]Free 1 day pass to Sam's club - Frugal Village Forums[/ame]

Another place to save on shampoo.... My SIL gets a gallon of shampoo at a beauty supply store for me about once a year (or so). She has a license and can get it much cheaper.

You need to figure the unit price (price per ounce) AND how much it takes to wash hair. Some brands we can cut with water and get more for our money. Some inexpensive brands you may need to apply once, rinse, and apply again, so you are using twice as much as something like Pantene that may only need one application, but costs a little more.

Be careful how much you stock. The ingredients can alter during storage. Oils can go rancid and fragrance can change from exposure to heat.

Watch all store ads and you will get some deals. I have bought shampoo at the grocery for .97.
