August 2009 Quilting Club
Are You Ready? Here We GO!!
Calling All Quilters!!
Please join in our sharings, discussions, and pictures of quilts in the making, completed quilts or quilts from the past. There are a lot of quilters here at FV - and there will be many more as we share our enthusiasm and great ideas!!
One quilt that I want to share is in progress and has been for the past 23 years. It's a king size Hawaiian quilt in the Breadfruit pattern. I am still appliquing it - wait til you see the design - created by a Hawaiian quilt maker for me!! My goal today is to be able to lay it out and get a picture to post!!
Looking forward to seeing what you are and want to work on!!

~Bless you Maui, I've been antsy for this thread to appear!
I'm working on a denim circle quilt(circles are all cut)with inner squares of corduroy, a denim squares quilt(about half cut out as I get jeans), and a t-shirt quilt(a tied quilt).
I'm starting a 4th quilt, a traditional baby quilt, asap. I have it planned out and the fabric prepped. This one will be machine pieced but hand-quilted. I need this done by December as it's for my newest niece or nephew.
I need to order 2 battings online but I'm waiting for a good deal. There aren't any quilt shops near me. One denim quilt won't have batting and the other will have an old blanket for batting.
I'm excited to see your breadfruit quilt MM. It's sounds fantastic!~

Nuisance, you never disappoint me, I knew you'd be the first to post!!
I would like to see pictures of your denim quilts too - never heard of or saw a round quilt!!
Eight years ago I made quilts for all of my preschoolers for nap time - they all looked so cute snuggled up in them. And now I'm getting the urge to do it again. My staff thinks that I'm crazy, but I know that all of you quilters will understand

~Oh I know just what you mean about seeing the snuggle-y quilts we make. There's just something so homey and romantic about quilts. And people really appreciate the heart that quilters put into a quilt.
And I must say, I'm super impressed by your productivity! I've only made 4 baby quilts so far(in a 10 year span) and 2 of them were rushed projects.I'm an amateur quilter, really.
The denim circle quilt I'm making is made up of circles but ends up a rectangle. Here's the pattern I'm using: http://www.equilters.com/library/jea...allbaros.html~
I'm just so looking forward to chatting and learning from other quilters! Hoping to get some tips in machine quilting and lap quilting especially!~

Well, I worked on taking pictures of my quilt. Unfortunately there is no place I can lay it down and take a full picture. When I have extra hands, I'll have it held up - these are what I have. The blue is a pineapple wall hanging I made years ago. don't know why I chose blue!!

That is absolutely gorgeous MM, I have yet to try my hand at applique.
I have 3 quilts that I want to get done for Christmas. Two of them will be the same, simple rail fence quilts. One will just be long denim strips with snow flakes embroidered on them. I've ironed the fabric and started cutting one of the rail fence quilts. I keep the cutting board up in my kitchen so whenever I have a few minutes I just cut away! Cutting is my LEAST favorite part of doing a quilt. Hmm, ok, maybe doing the binding is... My goal is to have one of the rail fence quilts cut by the end of the weekend, so I can just stitch stuff together during the week. Hmm, that sure sounds simple enough, hopefully I can do it!
Happy quilting!

Don't know if this has been posted before......and didn't want to start a new thread.....maybe I should have.
This might help for some patterns.......(I have GOBS of free websites/patterns that I could post). You sort of have to search around when u get to this site.....but I found all sorts of free fun stuff.

I have three quilts that I need to make asap.
1-wedding ring quilt for my 2nd Son getting married in September
2-Baby quilt for 2nd son's baby due in about 7 1/2 months
3-Baby quilt for 3rd son's baby (girl to be named Sasha Keikikealohalani due on January 1st)

~Keikikealohalani, what in interesting name. I searched name sites and the literal translation, I think, is Child of Heavenly Love? Maybe I should have just consulted Maui. ;-)
My brother named his two girls Hawaiian first names. He's expecting another munchkin in December and if it's a girl they plan to stay with their theme.
It's been really fun watching the expressions on people's faces when I tell them the name of my family's newest addition! You just don't hear very much Hawaiian language here on the East coast!~
