The Break Up: I knew it was comimg...
and it is going to be tough. DD18 broke up with her boyfriend of a year and a half last night. She came to my room at 1:30 in the morning. I tried my best to comfort her. She fell asleep in my arms. She really really cares for this guy, but they have not been getting along for over a month. It was so much easier when they were small and you could just kiss a boo boo and it made it all better for them. Please pray for her and send good thoughts her way. Thanks!

YEP I suffered thru this
My son, got a bit to cocky i guess. spending all his money on his car, buying all the new cool parts to make it look fancy. Ignoring the girlfriend that worshiped him but she had bald tires on her car and her mom wouldnt let her drive. So she dumped him. Then he woke up , realized how important she was and they married about 2 years later. Of course they were about 16 when the first break up happened. Hopefully same situation willl happen here or she will find her a new man and forget the old the next day. funny how easy they (kids) can turn around when a new prospect happens. But i also know my son spend about 2 weeks unable to go to school, work, or even hardly leave his room while he suffered the break up.

Oh--that's tough! I'm 35 and remember many devastating break ups. It's wonderful how you have such a great relationship with her and she comes to you for comfort.

Thank you all so much for being such caring people. My DD18 is so sad. I know she feels a part of her has died. I just can't stand for either of my DDs to be hurting, as I am sure you all understand those feelings. And I really can't even be mad at the guy, because it wasn't really anything he did. It was just something that happened. I don't want to be mad at him anyway, who knows, they may someday be together again and I wouldn't want any hard feelings. My DD18 is such a tiny thing. She is 5'4" and weighs about 95 pounds. I was really worried that she would lose her appetite...I can't eat when I am upset. She did eat all three meals yesterday, so that made me feel a little better. My DStepdaughter and her DHusband talked to her on the computer last night (they are in North Carolina at the moment) and they were both so kind to her. I love my DFamily and my DFrugal Village family! I thank God for all of you every day.

Oh Bless her heart!! It's never easy. . .no matter how old you are, but it's especially hurtful when you're young. Sending lots of hugs!!

The same thing happened to our son years ago. He was the same age. He woke me up in the middle of the night when his girlfriend and he got off the phone. I took him(6'5") back to his bedroom and laid down with him until he fell asleep.; I told him that I could not make the pain go away but that I was here for him.
It is better for them to get the break now than maybe get married with children involved by then and then split.
Heartbreak will mend eventually. We have all been there. Prayers from our home to yours.
