    Default Homemade Hot Pockets

    Homemade Hot Pockets

    Recipe Description
These are homemade hot pockets. I've tried them with various fillings and everything is good. I'll list 2 of my favorites here...but feel free to try anything.
    Preparation Steps:
Pre-heat your grill or it can be done on a campfire!
    Level of Difficulty:
    Super Easy!
    Time Needed:
    20 to prep - 20 to cook
    Ingredients:
    hamburger buns
    Foil

    For ham & cheese filling:
    1 cup cubed ham
    1 cup shredded cheese
    1/4 cup mayo
    1 squeeze yellow mustard
garlic & onion powder to taste

    For pizza filling:
1 cup pizza or tomato sauce
    1 cup mozzarella cheese
pizza toppings of choice (we love pepperoni)
    Serves:
    makes 8 hot pockets
    Directions:
Hollow out the insides of your hamburger buns, so you are left with a "bun shell". Mix all the ingredients for you filling of choice in a bowl. Spoon filling into the shell, and wrap individually with foil. Place on the grill or fire on low-medium heat for 20 -30 minutes! Cool, but serve warm. Caution...the filling will be hot!

(I think it could be done with pie filling, but I haven't tried it yet)

I am a little bit concerned about the mayo...won't it go bad when you heat it?

Thanks for the recipe idea! How simple, but it sounds great! I'm going to try it.
Mayo is ok when cooked. It won't turn it bad. I often grill tuna salad sandwiches with cheese added. YUM I may go to the bread store tomorrow and get buns. I suppose you could make ahead and freeze wrapped just like hot pockets. I'm going to try it anyway.
    Thanks again.
