Question Going to my first scrapbooking party - what can I expect?

Tell me what I can expect and if I decide to purchase anything, what should it be? I don't have a clue to scrapbooking.

Ohhhh...I'm so jealous! I've never been to a scrapbook party.
These are some of the things I would get:

A nice assortment of textured cardstock
    Pretty patterned paper
    Assortment of colorful brads
    Pretty ribbon
    Metal embellishments

Oh...I could go on and on and on
    Have a blast!!

CJ, let us know how it turns out. I've never been to a scrapbooking party either. I just bought a scrapbooking beginner's kit half price at Michael's. I thought I might give it a try since I know so many other people who enjoy scrapbooking.

I am so sorry I didn't see this sooner!! How was the party?? What did you make, was there a "make and take" ??

The first items I suggest for people is papers, adhesives and simple embellishments. Invest in agood quality book that will survive being pulled out, put away, pulled out, put away....

Check out the threads I have posted about acid free and lignen free items and the importance thereof.

Get the things that appeal to you, afterall, this book will be an expresion of you and your love, family, and life.

The stuff at those parties are way overpriced. I've been able to catch good sales at Hobby Lobby where they frequently put thier scrapbooking stuff half-priced.

Have you been to the party yet? I hope you had a nice time. Did you find anything to purchase?

Well overpriced or not, here is what I bought. I certainly blew the "January no spend challenge"

Album, protectors, tape runner, basic fine tip pens (4), personal trimmer, custom cutting system mat and blades, oval patterns, corner rounder, short cuts warm paper pack, short cuts cool paper pack, fundementals sticker pack, jumbo great lengths blue and aqua stickers. It was a kit and was $247.00 (YIKES)

I also joined a scrapbooking club where every $350.00 spent you get a free gift.

I'm also going to a night of scrapbooking on the 23rd with a neighbour who is fast becoming a friend. Its from 7-10 p.m.

And we will also be having a pizza cut night which will be a Friday night from 7 until 12 midnight and in the middle of that, we will eat pizza.

I did a page for my oldest dd. It was pictures of her wedding. I was given a package of Creative memories from a friend here to give to her, so I figured I would do her first page for her.
