Question What treasure have you found, you enjoyed the most?

Mine has got to be an antique dresser that I purchased for $4.00. I love it and every time I see it I think of how little I paid for it.

    What about you?

The best treasure that I have ever bought has got to be the China Tea Set that I bought for $40.00 at a thrift store. There is a story behind it and it makes it more special, but the cups, saucers and cream and sugar pieces are so beautiful that every time I look at them, I feel good.

I bought an old wooden angel that looks like it may have hung in a church, at one time. One of her wings is broken. She has the most beautiful eyes. They look like the ones they put in old dolls. My DD says her eyes freak her out because, she always looks like she is watching you. I always feel like she is watching over us.

Our ratty old truck, believe it or not! We paid $200 for it and it looks it. However, it is SOOO nice to be able to run a load of stuff to the yard debris site or or get a ladder (the long kind) from the rental place and not having to worry about getting it home. It's a hoot to drive--I don't dare go over about 40 because its steering is so weird. For someone who is a speed demon, this is a real wake up call!

OMG - where to begin. I am a garage sale, Goodwill, Salvation Army, auction aholic.
I got ds a power wheels for free this past summer for hauling it off. DH bought a new battery and switch and it runs good as new.

Picked up 3 Eddie Bauer sweaters with tags still on them at a sale for $1 each.

Stone Mountain leather purse for $1

Antique library desk at a church basement sale for $2

Antique fly rods for 25 cents each at a church basement sale.

I could go on and on. It has become a profession/obsession with me.

My grandparent's manger. Pop and Gram have been downsizing and gave me a lot of their decorations. I just hung it in my living room the other day and it brought back great memories. There's a gold cord to pull to start the music box in it, which plays Silent Night. My children (the great grandkids) already love it too.

Oh, I forgot to add, when my grandparents passed, I received their dinning table. I grew up eating off this table for years. It is older than I am. When my mom and dad divorced, my mom took it and my grandparents ended up with it. It is very, very heavy....solid as a rock!! My dad made the table for my mom before I was born and now I have it. I don't think I could ever get rid of it because of all the sentimental value attached to it.

I got an old wooden chest for $5 at a garage sale years ago and it looks just like what we try to make newer furniture look like with the feux crackling finishes. I love that chest. We keep our board games in it.

I have several favorites....but to name a couple of my absolutes ones....hhhhmmmm.... . I got an antique smoking stand for free...it needed a a top and to be painted and cleaned up. I also got a piece of marble so I got it cut to fit the smoking stand. It looks soooooo good as my sofa table. I have picked up several end tables here and there at garage sales for very little. I got a mission oak table with a gold tile top for $5. I had to do a little refinishing on it but it looks great in dd's room.

My husband!!! He already was getting gray hair at age 25 when we married, so I've always teased him about being my "old man".

Objects that I treasure are my great grandmother's (TUTU) spoon collection, the family china that has been passed down through generations and that I can't find replacement pieces for, my wedding ring because the middle stone is from my Tutu's wedding ring and my husband and I had the ring made to the design that we wanted, a huge old carpenter's trunk, a beautiful buffet table and the antique mirror that hangs above it, my clawfoot dining table, a old display cabinet that came out of a hardware store that has the warbled glass in the divided pane cabinet windows, beautiful old books (some are first editions), old ironstone dishes, all kinds of glassware and gorgeous old prints that are hanging on my walls. Oh, I almost forgot....the children's prayer samplers that my Tutu made for my mom when she was a baby and my grandmother's opal ring.
