My old one is a Viking 990 from 1986. I don't think they're made anymore. My new one is a Viking Tribute 140C. That's a limited edition they made for their 140th anniversary. I got it about a year ago.

Started this last weekend and finished it today. It's 42 x 72. Made out of scraps.

I have made a bathmat out of an old towel and t shirt strips cut on a self-healing mat with a rotary cutter. I would have finished this weekend, but I got the flu.

I have made hats, mittens and leg warmers from thrift store felted mens wool sweaters.

I have cut up jeans to make draft dodgers, potholders, makeup cases, slippers. I even made a sundress!

I use what I have because I can't afford to buy very much at the fabric store. I don't have cable tv and haven't for years, so I try to teach myself to sew with used clothing and Youtube. They have a wide variety of everything I need to know to learn to sew.

Frugal forever, that is is very ingenious of you!!! Love it!!

    Alaska, I love the quilt!!!

yesterday, dd10 sewed straight lines and a maze and straight lines. I modified a webbing belt for a pair of goalie pants. Switched out the buckle, removed Velcro and hemmed ends.

I would love to join y'all! I think I will set my goal to sew at least one thing each month. I feel like that will be good and it'll just be bonus if I end up making anything else that month.

I got a Hobby Lobby gift card for Christmas and got some new patterns! I'll be making a skirt this month out of some awesome Batman fabric I have had for a while.

I finally got the elastic replaced on the visor CD holder for the van, using a scrap of elastic from the elastic tote.

I also patched the hole I managed to make in the little bag I want to use for my crochet project bag. I went through the baggy of appliques I've sorted in the sewing room and found an American flag applique and sewed that over the rip. It looks like it's always been there.

    I miss sewing.

I've been sewing scraps leftover from prior quilting projects together for a couple of years now. Today I decided that I had enough to sew them into a quilt top. It is extremely busy but it is filled with memories...who I made quilts for, where I was when I was sewing it, taking a class with my sister in Alaska from Bonnie Hunter, learning to batik, learning to applique...the list goes on.

~I'm in of course, but not for a project a week. My challenge this year will be to make 4 things from my vintage patterns for me. I rarely sew from patterns and I rarely sew for me so this should be really fun.
Right now I'm leaning towards making a blouse, a skirt, a dress and a double-faced wool cape coat. ~

What vintage are you thinking about, Constance? There's some really cool vintage fashions.

I'll just be happy if I can finish off most of the UFOs this year. I'm sick of that stuff hanging around.
