    Grateful that:

No one in my immediate family is ill.
I have a little garden where I can get lost for hours.
My adult chickens still think I am their mother and give me great joy and laughter when I have to watch where I walk to keep from having a chicken perching on my foot.

    Grateful that:

    - All my new chickens survived another night, even though something obviously tried to break into the coop (hole in the wire at the door)

    - The nerve I pinched in my back a few weeks ago is finally deciding to heal up and I was able to get up out of bed today without looking like an upturned turtle trying to right itself

    - Pay day!!

    Grateful that:

    - Raleys Supermarket had my frozen turkey (long story)!

    - All my garden transplants seem to be healthy and strong

    - I had a chance to catch up with an old friend (who also happens to be my avian vet) when I took the birds in for nail/beak trims

    Grateful that:

The new roosters seem to be integrating nicely into the flock (even though one of my older hens has decided to make sure they know she is the boss).

I am ALMOST done deep-cleaning the chicken coop (days long project)

I just learned that I can grow bananas and mangoes in my zone (always thought they would not survive).

    Grateful that:

My chest freezer is so full, I am thinking about pulling everything out to reorganize it.

The internet (been hanging out there all morning instead of working).

Podcasts. I got rid of my t.v. and service years ago, and they are my only way of keeping generally current with what is going on in the world.

    Grateful that:

All my new chickens seem to have figured out how to get back in the coop at night!

I live in a zone where I can still plant beans today and know that they will ripen before it gets too cold and where I can grow just about anything I want to try.

    My Roomba works!

    Grateful that:

The temps are supposed to go down later this week and feel a bit like they are going down today.

I received some seeds that I ordered a while back.

I had a great nap this afternoon!

    Oops, been a few days:

    Grateful for:

    The break in the heat!

That all my baby chicks are doing great and should be ready to join the flock in just a few weeks (could join them now but the babies are still too small and would be hawk bait).

That I was able to get my much-coveted cases of turkey necks and wings. I buy from a guy who delivers and he is ALWAYS out of those! I use them for dog treats and also roast the occasional wing for myself when the mood strikes. My mother loves the necks to use for making broth. But I can only get them a couple of times a year. I was able to get two cases (40 pounds each) of each this time, so now I have to spend a little time rearranging my freezer to fit them all!

    Grateful that:

I finished building the new raised bed, so more room for veggies!

I was able to somehow stuff all those turkey necks and wings into various freezers!

The re-fi seems to finally be moving ahead. I was told 4-6 weeks, and it has now been 12!
