How I'm going to simplify my life
Maybe this isn't truly a simplification as it is a revision of my life. I've decided to quit my job at the hospital and decided to work on call weekends as a hospice nurse. Instead of taking care of 6 or 7 people at one time, I can focus my energies on one family. I think my own call in nursing is to help people as thoughly as I can, and I cannot do that in the hospital. This is one reason I'm going to graduate school (because I want to help people as best I can and one at a time). I'm trying to simplify myself by spending less money, because I'll have less with this new job. Anyway for now that is what I'm doing with my life.

I hope this makes things simpler for you Heather. Sometimes it takes something drastic to help us take control.....

I wish you the best on your way to a simple life. You're going about it the right way with making sure you're working in the way you want to work. Don't forget to stop and smell the roses along the way. It makes a big difference to how you feel about things and you'll be able to present a calm persona to your patients.
Let us know how your journey goes and update us as you progress. -

Good for you! I LOVED Hospice nursing! The short time I worked in the hospital they had me taking care of 10 or 11 people at once! That's just not possible so I quit. There's nothing like hospice. I know you're going to love it too!

Thanks everyone for the awesome support.
Last Monday I put in my two week notice at the hospital. I worked this weekend, and it was hectic as always. It reminds me of why I am doing this. My nurse manager called me today, and I told her why I was leaving, and it was a very positive for a resignation. I have been a little worried because this hospice company is just starting up, and I am afraid I won't have much work for now, so I put in an application at a home health agency today. A lady at the hospital works for them too, and she loves it. I should hear from them later this week. I will be doing just one or two weekends a month with home health and two weekends a month with hospice. I'm so excited that this process is starting.
