    Default Forum Acronyms

    Every forum, I find, has it's own language (beyond the standard LOLs and such). I think I've deciphered most acronyms but it may be handy, if it doesn't exist (I tried to search but couldn't find it), to have a listing of all the common acronyms used here at FV. So here goes (most are my guesses so if I've errored please excuse me and help me out )

    FV = Frugal Village
    DH = Dear Husband/Da Husband
    DS(s) = Dear Son(s)/Da Son(s)
    DD(s) = Dear Daughter(s)/Da Daughter(s)
    DW = Dear Wife/Da Wife
    HBA = Health and Beauty Aids
    EF= Emergency Funds
    UFOs = ??? (besides little green men; unidentified financial objectives?)
    CC(s) = Credit Card(s)
    FIL = Father in Law
    MIL = Mother in Law

    UFO = UnFinished Objects (such as in crafts when you start a project but don't finish)
    DH/DW/DS/DD = dear, darn (husband, wife, son, daughter)

    Good job LOL

    Sometimes the search doesn't pick up everything. Your best bet is to use the Google search vs. the forum search.

    If you scroll to the bottom of pages on the forums, you'll see related threads. Those help sometimes too.

    We also have a tag search. Unfortunately you can only search one tag at a time.

    Look your thread is showing also.

    A Search on abbreviations for tag will yield:

    The search feature has a mind of its own sometimes as Michele indicated. I rank search efficiency right next to to the black art of magic.

    I did see good results from searching acronyms.

    All this being said, tagging helps create a better village by having better [ame="https://www.frugalvillage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=103207"]semantics[/ame] for us humans.
