I am not from Tennessee. But I live over the mountain in Franklin NC. We head to the Gatlinburg/ PF area a few times a year. Love Cades Cove and Dollywood.

Hi, just found this forum today. I live in Crofton, Kentucky; just often shop in the Clarksville, Tennessee area; and get to Nashville when hubby has to go to the VA. Would like any local frugal tips.
When I used to live in Ohio; there were discount grocery stores. I called them the "scratch and dent" stores. But I can't find any cheap stores in the area. Of course, I use Aldi and Walmart. Hi everyone!

Heartofmine, I know you & I have already talked.
But I'm another one from Jamestown. Both my husband & I grew up there and then moved away after High School.

Now that my Dad is gone, I only have one brother left that still lives there.
But Mike's family is still around there.

It's great to see so many Tennesseans here on the forums though!!!

    Default Another Newbie

Hi All, just found the forums this morning. I live in the foothills right between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. Though I've lived here 27 years, I don't quite qualify as a "local" yet (I think your grandparents had to be born here to qualify ;^) ).

Although it's been a lifelong interest for me, I'm just now getting into the frugal/ homesteading lifestyle.

How far away is Johnson City from Maryville? I am currently attending ETSU. I LOVE the mountains...so much so that my minor is Appalachian Studies!

Oh, and where do we sign up to get snail mail? I would like to get into that again.

Hubby & I went to Western Carolina and we would go to Franklin and go bowling on the weekends when we first started dating...lol Such a small world.

I absolutely love it here! I work in the archives at the college and get to see all the old photographs and collections of people in the tri states area. I LOVE the old buildings downtown and am glad to see them being revamped. I currently do not have a vehicle but as soon as I get one, there are so many places to explore here! (Bays Mountain, Sycamore Shoals, etc...)
