I think the best thing about where we live in GA is the friends. Good friends, good food and you got a day.

Of course, I don't live in a southern state. Florida has so many yankees, it's more like a northern state. I was born and raised in the south, so I'd love to move back to south Georgia. I love the weather down here, and being a southerner, the hot summers don't bother me as much as they do the yankees (I love seeing them sweat, and hearing them complain).

I love true southern ways. I miss them, thus the wanting to leave and go "back home". I wish I could afford to live in Savannah, because that would be my first choice of a place to live.

I think everyone pretty much covered it lol .Southern hospitality is what we're known for..well,and our sweet tea, food, long summers, mild winters, and OF COURSE our southern accents And yes I have one, big time.My husband even mocks me and he was born and raised here to LMAO

(And Im thinking of moving to Indiana..Id get homesick huh lol)

I love how someone you dont even know will call and say they're sorry to hear about a loss.Or drop food off.How people come together no matter what and if you know them or not.
Nothing better than sitting on the porch swing and people you dont even know ride by and wave.EVERYONE down here waves at EVERYONE!!

Ya'll come visit anytime. We'll have some sweet tea,or coke (sprite,Dr.pepper, pepsi etc LOL) sit on the porch and talk. Then get ready and run down to Wal-Mart.After that we'll come home and fix supper.

Speaking of.Thats what I'm FIXIN to do....go fix supper lol

I believe you all have covered it all! I love going walking at a park along the river and have everyone say hello as they pass but there are certain parts of the city (namely the richer parts) that isn't so friendly. There is a man who lives near by that sits out in his yard JUST to wave at passers-by!

Well, I'm in the north part of the south but I think I can still chime in here. I love Southern people, no offense to the yanks out there, but so many people around here are just friendly to be friendly. I struck up a 20 minute conversation with a lady I'd never met at the gym yesterday and I felt so blessed that the people around here are kind enough to take their time to talk.

    Also...
    home grown tomatoes in June
    Sweet tea
warm days in the middle of winter

Well, I must chime in on this thread. My three favorite things about the south are:

    1. Sweet Tea
    2. Grits
    3. Good, real home grown tomatoes

Why on earth did I leave out the tomatoes? When I was growing up and living at my grandparents we had fresh grden tomatoes every day in the summer. You would think I would be sick of them.... but NOPE! I have my plants planted right now and buy my maters at farmer's markets until I get my own. Store bought just plain STINKS!
