If you tell us a little more about your situation, how many children you are caring for, and their ages, we may be able to offer suggestions to help you.

Welcome to Frugal Village. My deepest sympathy for your loss of your husband.
This is a wonderful place to find help and support with advice, experience and prayer.
You asked about taxes on another thread. Do you own your own home? Do you have a mortgage? You mentioned you lost your husband last November you should of recieved a bill for your property taxes, either monthly or most likely quarterly, if they are not included in your mortgage payment.
Our property taxes are included in our mortgage. Do you have support from family, church, neighbors etc.
You have a lot a lot of reposibility and if your husband took care of most of your financial business you need to ask questions, many, we are here to help in any way.
Bless you, Happymommy

Please accept my sympathy for your great loss. I will pray for you and your children. Taking is grandchildren is a big chore and I admire you for doing that so they wouldn't end up in the "system". God bless you and yours...

Have you looked online to see if there is anything like Angel Food Ministries in your area? They will provide enough food for about a weeks' worth of meals for a family of 4 for approx. $25/mo. I know people who have done this and it's really a good deal. It's for anyone who needs it. No income requirements at all. You have to place your order and pay for it in advance, pick it up on the assigned day. That's it.
