Right now for us we need to stockpile:
Iams dog food
Purina One cat food
BJ's brand rawhide chews for dogs
canned green beans
canned pears and peaches
either Bounty or Walmart brand paper towels
Hefty brand black garbage bags
Glad brand white garbage bags
Advantage flea medicine for cats and dogs
Oil of Olay extra moisturizing body wash
a certain brand (can't remember which) of pink disposable razors
generic brands of Benedryl, Immodium, Sudafed
Kleenex Cottonelle toilet paper
Newman's Own spaghetti sauce
low-sodium chicken broth
tropical punch flavor of Kool-Aide
Kashi TLC chewy granola bars
Arm & Hammer laundry detergent
Ivory dish detergent
distilled white vinegar
Those are all I can think of, off the top of my head. Gosh that's a lot. I don't have nearly enough stocked of these things!
eggs (dehydrated ones for emergencies)
I tend to stockpile what I can get free, or purchase at loss leader prices. If it is something I rarely find a good deal on, I don't stockpile it. Does that make any sense?
Some things in my stockpile now:
Razors and shave cream
Feminine Hygeine products
Bath Soap and Body Wash
Baking mixes, brownie, cake, muffin, Bisquick, pancake mixes
Baking chocolate, semi-sweet (I got ten 8 oz. packages of this FREE with coupons)
Cereal (10-12 boxes)
Canned and pouch tuna
Jam and preserves
Ketchup, mustard, BBQ sauce, hot sauce, soy sauce (all FREE)
Canned beans, refried beans, and chili
Pasta and pasta sauce
Rice mixes and instant potatoes
That is not everything, but my hands are numb (carpal tunnel) and it is time to go to bed.
cream of mushroom soup
canned diced tomatoes
These are the things we use the most of, there might be a few others..all I kind think of. We have been cleaning out our stockpile over the last month and I'm running out of a lot of things (can't wait to start over).
Sari, It´s not what you asked, but I just want to tell you that Sari is the most popular girls name in my age group (I´m 40) in Finland.
I tend to agree with i.m.cheap ~ I stock pile items that I get for free or close to free -
~ female personal hyg. products
~ body wash / soap
~ muffin mix / baking mix (my boys love muffins)
and if I'm going to be completely honest ~~ the number one ingredient in this home is ~~ Mt. Dew :)
I stock pile lots of different things but right off the top of my head I can think of these things
Cat/dog food,treats, cat liter
Mac and cheese
chicken tender and patties
meat (we get a quarter of beef a year)
cake mixes and frosting
warm delights (I love these)
razors and shaving cream
chilli fixings now that it is getting colder
taco mixes and seasonings
bread (I have 3 loaves in the freezer right now)
Bounce fabric sheets
I want to get some hot chocolate that is something I don't have yet
Ok that was a lot but that is basically what I have right now. We are going to go this whole next month without buying anything but the basics milk, oj, potaotes things like that but we don't want to have to do any stocking up so I was excited when I saw Meijers had canned veggies and fruit on sale, ice cream and a few other things and I had q's and Target has pepsi on sale. So we will be pretty well stocked for the month and hope to be able to keep it that way.
Yes, I didn't even get to my freezer stockpile! Right now there are lots of FREE Eggo waffles, Cheap Digiorno pizzas, ground turkey, FREE Mrs. Smith's pie slices, and Minute Maid OJ concentrate. I am a little low on frozen veggies right now, but if a deal comes along soon, I am ready to stock up!
I forgot a few things
Frozen pepper from our garden this year
Freezer and storage bags
Trash bags black and white ones
can chicken for shredded chicken
can chicken for chicken and noodles
cat liter bags for cats
Dishwashing liquid cascade, electroalsol
Soap bar and hand soap
Ok I think that might be all. But dh and I have decided that we need to eat some of this stuff before we buy more of it we have enough that could proably get us thru more then just one month off but we are going to try it and see how far it gets us.
We figure we will have to buy milk, oj, beer (that is dh's thing)potatoes and a few other little things here and there but nothing major.
I try to have a few months worth of food in the house at all times, right now we are low, we just moved and we will be moving again next month, then I will really hit the stockpiling hard. Here are some things we use a ton of on a regular basis.
all toiletries, usually gotten free
all baking products
I don't think I could list my entire hoard, so I'll just list what I need to add to the stockpile:
**** Non People-Food Items****
Toilet paper (down to my last 12 double rolls)
Dawn dish detergent
Thankfully we're doing good on everything else.
We just moved (well, in January) to a bigger house, so now I really have room to stockpile! :yippee:
So far I have the following:
basic sewing/mending supplies
flour (but I still need more)
tomato products (diced, stewed, sauce)
beans (dried and tinned)
