6 #10 cans of freeze dried banana slices
6 #10 cans of freeze dried banana slices
Made my monthly Sams Club run last night & was able to add a few things to the stockpile, even though we're running on much less this month with our grocery budget.
6 cans of stewed tomatoes
5 lb. bag of shredded mozarella cheese
3 lb. container of Hellman's mayonnaise
3 rolls of sausage
2 whole chickens
1-#10 can of diced tomatoes (I will divide up & freeze in canning jars to use for various recipes)
10 lb. bag of potatoes
Not alot but still trying to rebuild my stockpile & refill my freezer each month.
Added beef TVP to complete our HB Helper kits.
Made 13 2-serving vegetable soup kits from our own dehydrated vegetables.
My bf bought me a extra #10 can of beef and chicken TVP for the pantry - he's so sweet!
20 lb bag of rice - $7.99 at the salvage store
Red Baron Cheese Pizzas - 99 cents each
2 blocks of Kraft Cheese
2 pkgs shredded Kraft Cheese
Alas, I am SUBTRACTING from my stockpile today :(
DSis is broke so I'm lending her gas money to get through the week (lend is usually a euphemism) and taking her some groceries. On the upside, 95% of it is coming out of the freezer and pantry, and some of it is stuff I've been trying to work through anyway (rotating), so it's not all bad...
But I'm violently allergic to empty cabinets (mine OR hers...) and the sales right now just SUCK, so I'm not replenishing as I'm taking out, I'm just moving that extra grocery money into an account to wait for good deals to come back (I hope.)
Luckily I made a menu through the end of March and so I know exactly what I can spare without feeling it. That was nice, I'm not usually "a step ahead."
If I can get out of that store for UNDER $100 I feel like I am doing good...........and I don't even have a membership!!! But mooching off my friends membership hasn't seemed to help.............but she is okay with it, as I add to her total for getting money back. I just have to NOT GO!!! And if I am doing good when I hit the spice and jam aisle....wellllll........it goes out the door then!
Am thinking about going out and getting some more butter........before the sale goes off on Tuesday. I just don't see it going much lower.......
Today I canned 7 Q of homemade bean soup & 10.5# of beef cut into cubes with beef broth.
Today I added....
dry cat food/dry dog food
* 3 contairs disenfecting wipes
* ream of printer paper
* 2 spaghetti sauce
I found my favorite (cheap) soap today at Wal-Mart, it was marked down from .97 to .75.
It had a red clearance sticker on it & I probably should have bought the rest because usually those red stickers on the shelf mean they will be discontinuing that item.
All of that to say, I bought 4 bars of my favorite Almond & Oatmeal soap to add to my H&B stockpile. :)
When I went to Sam's in December, I decided to try one of those #10 cans of pineapple, divide the contents and freeze some. Since the experiment was a success, I decided to have at least one of each type to hold in case we can't afford or access our regular favorites.
So, yesterday, I added #10 cans (5-6lbs each) of:
green beans (2, because my regular, organic beans are out of stock, so I may open one in March)
pineapple (3, because I'm going to regularly open and freeze one)
2, 4lb boxes of salt
50oz (large bottle) dried, chopped onions
medium bottle dried parsley
4.5lbs instant rice, for when I'm running late (I bought a rice cooker to encourage myself to use the 40lbs of regular rice I bought last month; love the cooker, btw)
24 AAA batteries
And, we filled the freezer with Kashi pizzas, organic vegetables from Trader Joe's, and bread from our local bakery (not thrifty). And, I can't remember whether I noted earlier this month, I added 12 sirloins from our new grass-fed beef vendor (in time for Valentine's Day), of which, we now have 10.
If we have one, I hope it will be a shelter-in emergency, because we probably won't fit out the door! ;)
Added 21 packages of hot dogs. Seriously.
There was a coupon for $1/2 that combined with a $1.50/pkg sale for decent quality hot dogs (yes, I'm aware of the irony of that statement, but we're not whole-foods, organic, upscale anything...)
Anyway, these are made from turkey, "hardwood smoked," nitrate free, etc, more importantly, they taste good and are the best price I've seen in a tragically long time. So after buying two packs and trying one to be sure they didn't suck, I got 20 more packages on the way home and they are all going in the freezer... I'd like to think that's enough to last the rest of the year, but with my extended family situation, ya just never know...
I bought my first #10 can of diced tomatoes the other day & just divided them up into pint sized canning jars & put them in the freezer but I was curious how other people do it?
FF-I just shop both Sams and Costco. I have a list and thats that.
I did add 10 2L because Kroger here is discontunuing Ruby red squit and cherry 7-up and a few more. NO faith it will last though
Got dog ear wash and another dog product(??) on clearance.
bought a few frostings and puddings for cake. NOT buying mixes at $2.69 for Duncan hines.
pretty well stocked on everything. Wish DH understood more.He is mad the living rm. has a card table w/ food-I'm getting to it.lol
* 4 boxes of bandaids.
