DS#2 had oral surgery this morning
His braces came off about two weeks ago and they had told us previously that all four of his wisdom teeth would need to come out. They were laying sideways under his gums and whenever they were to come out, they would have pushed his other teeth forward...again! That is what I already paid to correct, so we had them removed today...all four of them. He has had a little discomfort, but is doing well overall. He refuses to eat though because he is afraid it will hurt. I bought his favorite ice cream, jello, and pudding before surgery just so he would eat, but nothing yet. I am sure it will get better and I probably would not want to eat either. The good thing is that he has not lost his sense of humor through it all and was the dr. said he was singing ALL THE SINGLE LADIES after surgery. Throwing his hands in the air too! LOL!! He is such a trooper!

Hey, we did 2 kids last summer. Pudding and jello-good. Icecream-not good. Room temperature for awhile. Make sure he does all the tylenol and rinsing. DD said rice was good but you have to be careful.
Tell him congrats on the bracelessness.

I had my wisdom teeth cut out and a screw implanted in my jaw at the same time. I remember I thought it would be a good idea to get chicken nuggets. That's all I wanted. Then I couldn't eat them. And I cried. Then I took a drink of sprite...and it all came back out with blood. I cried some more.

My younger brother just had a jaw surgery that involved moving his jaw within his mouth. They told him not to eat anything cold---only room temperature foods. Not sure the reasoning behind it. After telling him not to eat cold foods, they recommended milkshakes.

All 3 of my kids had braces off, then wisdom teeth removed. Their teeth shifted & 2 now have bottom out of alignment teeth. Of course, they wouldn't wear their retainers.... All that $$-what a waste.
Watch for red puffy cheeks ...dry sockets. All 3 had that, too. Milk shakes are good. Good Luck!

Whatever you do don't like him suck on a straw, smoke(if he does), or spit.. It will pull his blood clots out and welcome to dry socket town. Home of the worst pain in your life!
