Anything served at Thanksgiving you don't like?
We have Thanksgiving with my in-laws every year (because we stay home for Christmas & celebrate with my folks who live close). I enjoy most of the food but there are a few things I can't stand:
- Southern cornbread "dressing", this is dry, tasteless stuff to me and I miss "stuffing"! This has nothing to do with not liking southern food, I was raised in TN and like most of the foods from the south but this I have always hated.
- Country Ham, this is too salty & chewy for me.
- Apricot Stack Cake, this is a BIG family tradition for my in-laws. It isn't very sweet and no one really LOVES the taste but it's tradition and by george, it's complicated to makeso it's kind of a badge of honor. I will not eat it. The first year I had Thanksgiving dinner with my in-laws I was so disappointed in this dessert because everyone had really talked it up.
Anyone else served things at the holidays that you wouldn't make yourself?

anything my motherInlaw makes...I love her to pieces but she definately isn't a very good cook..she doesn't believe in using any seasonings at all. Thats why I try to make everything except the Turkey and veggie..Oh and the stuffing she can't go wrong when making it from a box..LOL

~Giblets in the gravy, tube crescent rolls and pecan pie. I don't 'hate' these things, but they wouldn't be part of my feast. My favorite things are the mashed turnips, turkey and cold pumpkin pie. Mmmmmm!~

My ex-husband's family Thanksgivings always involved his mother making her homemade stuffing. It was so mushy and gross, with cranberries (I HATE cranberries!
) and mashed potatoes and ... ugh! I always got Stove Top stuffing at my mother's Thanksgivings. I love it, it's the best stuff ever. But I always dreaded Thanksgiving at my ex-husband's place because of that god-awful stuffing.

I am a vegetarian so I do not eat the turkey or ham. I am also such a picky eater I do not like: cranberrry sauce, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserol, green ball peas, cowboy caviar, and no-mayo coleslaw.
About all I will eat is the bread, mashed potaotes, potato salad and the dressing that is specially made for me without meat in it.

We only cook what we want so it's all good, lol.
In Holidays past my biggest complaint was cold food by the time everyone is served. Even if there were 15 or more people they (in laws) wouldn't serve buffet style so waiting for everyone to be served always meant less than ideal temps for all that good food. Now we stay home and everything is lovely.
