What is your best sweet potatoe recipe for Thanksgiving?
What is your best sweet potatoe recipe for Thanksgiving?
I took a poll at my weekly Bible study and most the women said that sweet potatoes with marshmellows on top is the recipe that they look forward to the most.
So what is your recipe?

Sorry, but I really don't like canned sweet potatoes or marshmallows.
I cook fresh sweet potatoes, then mash them with a little milk, honey and cinnamon. They are good that way but sometimes I put the mashed taters in a baking dish and top with with little brown sugar, chopped nuts and a dash of cinnamon and bake for awhile. Or you can put chunks of raw sweet potato in a baking dish and pour a can of juice pack crushed pineapple over it and bake. But I think my favorite way to eat sweet potatoes is baked like a regular potato and yes I have served them that way for Thanksgiving.

I have 2 that I use ~ just depends on if I need the extra oven space:
Streusel Sweet Potatoes
My favorite sweet potato recipe.
4-6 servings
6 medium sweet potatoes, about 3 pounds
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
1/3 cup brown sugar, packed
1/3 cup pecans, chopped
2 tablespoons flour
2 tablespoons butter, softened
1. Cook sweet potatoes in boiling water to cover, 30-40 minutes or until tender.
2. Let cool to touch; peel and mash potatoes.
3. Combine mashed sweet potatoes, sugar and next 6 ingredients in a large mixing bowl; beat at medium speed of an electric mixer until smooth.
4. Spoon mixture into a lightly greased 2 quart casserole.
5. Combine brown sugar and remaining ingredients; sprinkle over sweet potato mixture.
6. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until thoroughly heated.
Slow Cooked Sweet Potatoes

1/3 cup chopped pecans
1/3 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons butter, melted
1. Lightly grease a slow cooker.
2. In a large bowl, blend sweet potatoes, 1/3 cup butter, white sugar and 2 tablespoons brown sugar.
3. Beat in orange juice, eggs and milk.
4. Transfer this mixture to the prepared slow cooker.
5. In a small bowl, combine pecans, 1/3 cup brown sugar, flour and 2 tablespoons butter.
6. Spread the mixture over the sweet potatoes.
7. Cover the slow cooker and cook on HIGH for 3 to 4 hours.

I love just plain baked sweet potatoes myself.
Every year I make the marshmallow variety out of fresh sweet potatoes for Thanksgiving.
One year I made the pecan type and the adults liked it but the kids did not.
So I just make the usual.
