    Default Utility averages...

Well finally sat down and figured out what utilities cost us for the past 12 months. Electricity: $2,269.73 OUCH and natural gas: $778.18.

Our natural gas cost dropped from $943.37 in 2011 and the reason our electricity cost so much was due to our eldest son and his family living with us. So, I know the cost for electricity will drop substantially for this year...thank heavens!

My electric/water/sewer is $2500 for the year. It's all one bill.

Gas is $600-900 for the year. Currently it is $576, but they review every 4-6 months and it will raise or lower depending on usage. It's somewhere in that range.

We got new windows, furnace and AC a couple years ago and the costs have gone way down.

Nope...received less than $500 for 6 months for 2 adults, 2 kids and 2 dogs...but, that's water under the bridge now and they aren't here any more. They are the reason, however, that anyone who needs to come here in the future will have a contract and my nose up their behinds

Not sure as we heated with gas last year and now are all electric. We don't heat our whole house so the electric works out better for us. Last year our heat and hot water was $2,500 for the year.

    Just checked ours.
Electric average for the year.....$ 1097
so average per month for the past year. $ 91.42

Propane for kitchen stove per month is $ 6.
Tank costs $ 50 on sale and will last us 8 to 10 months.

Wood no cost this past year as we are using up from a few years back.
Cost would be maybe $ 400 a year max, for our only heat. $ 33 month
The hot water from the outside wood boiler also heats our house water. In the summer, we switch back to electric for the hot water heater.

Water bill no, as we have a private well.

So combining cost of electric, propance, wood.......
    ....... average is $ 132.40 a month.
    I'm pleased with that number

~Yikes!! I well believe it though. My parents visited us for about 3 weeks in December/January and our utility bills went up by 25% for the time they were here. It wasn't just their added usage exactly that upped the bills, it was the party/vacation atmosphere that had me constantly cooking and baking, keeping the heater 4* higher than usual and running the fireplace all day every day for ambiance.
In 2012, we spent just under $2000 for electric and gas. The winter here in the new place is proving costlier than I anticipated, about $8 a day. Hopefully the ultra low usage in the summer will offset it. If we're still in CO by fall we plan to add insulation to the basement and every window will be caulked and window quilted. I will also invest in long underwear for everyone in the family.~

Mombottoo: God bless you for taking them all in. I cannot believe the kindness of people to help their family members and/or friends in their time of need and then to be taken advantage of is awful. The needy people are all friendly and nice and after you help them its over.
If this doesn't pertain to your family; just ignore it, but I see this going on all the time and people just can't seem to get the word grateful and appreciative and help pay your way.

Wow......I guess I shouldn't complains so much about our prices. We are on a budget plan for electric and natural gas, meaning they average your usage over a year so every month your bill is the same. Right now electric is 74 a month so 888 a year and natural gas is 49 a month so 588 a year. Garbage is billed every 3 months at just over 33$ so 11 a month. We have a septic tank so no charge and water is about $42 in the winter and up to almost $100 during the hottest months of summer ( we have a garden ) Just me and hubby with nieces here a night a week ( I turn up the heat when they are here and use more water of course )... otherwise I am knowen as the heat/light police. Usually at 67 degrees on cold days up to 68 in the evenings.
