Last time I went there I stayed at Fitzgerald's in the old downtown right on Fremont Street. Took the bus to the strip and saw a lot of the fancy places, but at nite on Fremont street, there's so much going on that I didn't want to go back to the strip.

Vegas is great! There are a lot of things to do that wouldn't cost you much.

I know you said you guys don't really drink and gamble, but I have a great tip on how to get free drinks in Vegas.
Just for fun, play the penny slots. It's a blast and you can spend a lot of time on them as long as you don't bet a lot. As long as you are playing, and I mean, even just betting 10 cents or less, the servers come around and ask if you want anything to drink.

This includes alcohol. So play minimally and get free drinks (I usually tip them).

If you want to see other hotels, you don't have to drive or take a cab. The Harrah's casino owns a lot of the major hotels including Paris, Caesar's, Rio, etc.. If you are staying at one of those hotels, all you have to do is show your room key and use their free shuttle to go to the other hotels they own.

This is really fun. The Rio has free entertainment throughout the night and the hotel is based like New Orleans/ Mardi Gras theme. The entertainment is a lot of singing/dancing and them throwing beads at people. It's fun.

These are just a few tips on Vegas...

    WHAT?!?! A WEEK TOO LONG?!?!

I think a week is too SHORT! There's just SO much to see and do! And much of it is free or very cheap! Last trip to Vegas Dh and I stayed for 27 DAYS! (No, that's not a typo). We loooooooooooved it!!!! That was our 4th trip there (the shortest trip we took there was a week and just wasn't long enough!). We're talking about another trip there this August!

I tooooootally second this!! We LOVE the Cirque shows!! They are spendy, but are 100% WORTH IT! My favorite is Ka', but I really like Mystere, too! "O" is pretty good...but not as good as the others IMHO. Go to youtube and search for the shows there to see if you'd be interested.

Free things we enjoyed were the M&M factory, walking around the casinos seeing the sites, the Bellagio has a botanical garden that is lovely...goodness, there's just SO much to see! The mall on the strip is neat, too. Oh and Treasure Island has a pirates show out front that's GREAT! And the Mirage has a volcano out front that is really cool!

We've stayed at various places on the strip, but I think the best cost/comfort balance is Excalibur. There's a great show there called, "Tournament of Kings" - it's a dinner show, so you get a meal, too, for a decent price! And (from your seat) you 'participate' in the show -- which makes it all the more memorable!

The bus passes can be worth it if you're doing things all over the strip...they're reasonably priced if you get the day (or week) pass. You can take this off-strip, too.

Hope you have a super-fun trip!!

(Can you tell I love Vegas and my dream is to live there one day?)

I got an email from the Luxor this morning and they were offering nights at $38. Of course that was not on the weekend. But $38? Holy cow...can you even beat that??? They have a very nice pool area. I think that if you are going to go to vegas that you should plan activities for the day and then plan a fwe shows for the evening.... I saw Cirque's Love...(the Beatle's tribute) and it was very good...Vegas is what you make it...explore the region and I don't think you can go wrong..and do as the previous poster suggested...go to Fremont Street....at night for the light show...but Don't go down to the Stratosphere area and walk around at night....VERY DANGEROUS!!!

the reason we think a wk is too longs is:
we dont adjust to time change
we do drink and party hearty
    we DO gamble
and, we are very blessed and do travel to many different places often....

I've been to Vegas 4 times, so if you have any specific questions, I can try to help.

    Also check out this website:

Cheapo Vegas - Your Guide to a Better Vegas Vacation

If you want to stay on the strip, sign up for some hotels' mailing lists online. You'll get emails for cheap hotel rates all the time.

I've stayed at the Las Vegas Hilton (off strip), Ballys, Luxor, and The Flamingo Hilton. Flamingo Hilton has the BEST pool...waterfalls and all sorts of cool stuff.

HTH a bit , and have a great trip!

i think a week is too long because:
    i don't gamble or drink.
i gained ten pounds last time i was there from all the free food.
the prostitutes all over the place were nasty
and if i have travel dollars, there are better places i would rather go, like colonial williamburg.
