    I think the cross border thing allows them to jack up the prices into the disgustingly obscene range. I do love the idea of a couple day's expedition into the Yukon to get to see it, KWIM? I wish I could remember the name of that cruise line. Bucket list I say!

    Sounds like your friend is covering up a shopping addiction unless this trip includes visiting another climate zone (Florida to Northern Europe) or doing some sport for which she doesn't own the right clothing (ie scuba, hiking, etc.)

    do i buy a new wardrobe for a trip to Europe? no, in fact i carry clothes and shoes ready for the trash can so when i pack to leave i leave them all behind so i have room in my suitcase for what i bought, usually books.

    It depends. If it's our usual vacation to the beach, we normally pack what we have. If it's a special trip we'll buy a few new things to spruce up our existing wardrobe.

    We keep clothes just for trips put away, and we normally won't touch them for day to day living.
    It's like getting new clothes for the trip every time!
