The Hotel del Coronado is FANTASTIC. It's a little pricey, though.

I have also heard good things about the Beach Cottages, but haven't personally been there.

I really enjoyed the Wild Animal Park. If you reserve ahead, I think you can get the tour where you go out on a truck and help feed the animals. I took just the regular tour, but still had a great time. The zoo is beautiful, as well.

That sounds amazing...our budget is $12000.00 for airfare and hotel...we want to fly first class. Off to check it out.

The Coronado will probably run you about $300/night, so may not be how you want to see your vacation budget disappear. On the plus side, though, it is reported to be haunted, so you may get your money's worth!

Found this on-line. Haven't been to most of them, but maybe you'll see something that you might otherwise have missed. Honestly, I lived just about 90 minutes north of San Diego for about 2 years, and only got there a few times, but loved it every time. The weather is always gorgeous!

We are budgeting $500 to $600 per night hotel...so times that by 7 nights...still leaves 6500 for airfare...it is gorgeous!

I don't know anyone who has stayed there who has NOT been very happy with the hotel. It has a fantastic beach, as well.

Hotel Del Coronado is beautiful and very historical and very pricey!! The beach there is beautiful but Coronado Island is busy, maybe not so much during December but there tends to be a lot of people there almost any time of the year. Coronado Island along with Mission Bay are very family friendly. Mission Bay is where Sea World is and a lot of the hotels in that area will offer packages for the hotels and parks.

If you are looking for beautiful beaches, check out La Jolla!!
