Question Anyone ever been to Fort Lauderdale?

Can you tell me what there is to do there (besides beaches LOL)?

I lived there back in the late 70's early 80's. That was a long time ago! Mostly, I was at the beach. Either scub diving, water sking or snorkeling.

Not a lot to do there, family wise. At least when I lived there.

Miami is not too far away 30-40 minutes and they have lots to do. We went to Monkey Jungle and loved it. Miami's zoo is also supposed to be nice.

Oops sorry...I should have mentioned that we'll only be there for a weekend (if that's where we decide to go), and it will be just Dave & Me

You can also visit Pres. Nixon's old home on Key Biscayne. It should still be open to tours.

Stay away from South Beach, unless you like public nudity. Wish that they would stop that!

You can also go to the aligator farms!

A weekend alone with your husband and you're thinking of leaving the hotel room!?!?!? Between laying on the beach and eating out, maybe a little walking around and shopping, that would be a full weekend for me. If I remember correctly eating grouper is a highlight.

Well, I could stay in a hotel room around here and not spend all that money--but I want to DO something, see the sights, you know?

We're not sure where we're going to go...could be NH, ME, VT, or CT too.

I got the impression the weekend was apart of a necessary trip to FL for you and hubby. If you're just looking for a long weekend vacation, definately stay closer to home. Sunset Magazine just delivered their new issue. I think they said Cape Cod was one of top ten destinations. You could also think about going north into Canada, too.
