Question Has anybody been to the NASCAR speedpark in TN?

We're thinking of going to the one in Sevierville, TN in about two weeks.  Here's the link: http://www.nascarspeedpark.com/sevierville.html
They have tracks you can drive on and a play area for the kids.

We're thinking of staying in the Gatlinburg area and then spending a day in Gatlinburg shopping, also.  I've heard there's a good aquarium in that area, too.

Any advice or things I should know?   TIA!

Amy, we lived in Sevierville for over 3 years and it's a great place, especially for a visit.

Go ahead and have hotel reservations before you head down as it's busy already.

The NASCAR park is a lot of fun and it's fun for the whole family. Our children were too small for us to go, but our friends were on the opening day list and had a ball.

The NASCAR cafe is not worth the money, but tastes are different.

In the three years we lived in S'ville, we went to G'burg TWICE. It's a beautiful town, but IMPOSSIBLE to drive in when the crowds are there. You may not have it as bad the first week of April, but consider Spring Breakers too. We lived at the Fairfield Inn in front of 5 Oaks in P Forge and it was a great place. S'ville and PF are 4 - 6 lanes where most of G'burg is only 2. I guess it all depends on the deal. Personally, I would do a day trip to G'burg.

The aquarium is spectacular and the entire family will LOVE it.

Our favorite place to eat is Mr. Gatti's. It's right across the street from the NASCAR speedpark and is an all-you-can-eat pizza/salad/pasta place. It has several rooms with big-screen TVs and an arcade as well. The pizza is absolutely unbelievable and we have often had to talk ourselves out of making a weekend trip in order to get some.

There is a beautiful public park behind the Kroger's in PF. It's free and has a creek running through it that ducks would swim in. That was a few years ago, but I would think they would still be there.

If you have any specific questions or thoughts, feel free to ask.

We go down serveral times a year...we have never been to the Nascar park but it looks like alot of fun...my cuz works there on the weekends. They live outside of Sevierville.

The aquarium is awsome....we took ds last year and he loved it.

Jenlee is right about it being crowded....if you can go during the week instead of a weekend its not as bad. If you stay in Gatlingburg there is alot of stuff you can walk to including the aquarium and then drive to Pigion Forge....

I've probably got some coupons around here....if I find them in the next few days I will mail them to you

Thanks! It always helps to hear from someone who's been there.

We will be in the area for a four-day weekend-- Friday through Monday. We'll try to hit the NASCAR park on Friday, I think, but we'll have to see.

We were going to just find a hotel when we got there, but, I think I'll try and make reservations as it sounds like that might be a better idea.  Maybe I'll call AAA and ask them to send me a triptik and find us a hotel.

I would personally move into the aquarium that's closest to us (that one's just south of Cincinatti) if I could so I am definitely hoping to visit the Gatlinburg one.

    Thanks for the tips!

We make the trip several times a year. I'd rather go there than the beach.
Just don't go April 13-17th that is Rod Run weekend and unless you want to do a lot of sitting in traffic or love Classic cars, stay away.
    I may be there then

Sounds like a blast Amy! Hope you all have tons of fun!

I have only been to TN once many years ago and the best thing we went to was the Zoo in Knoxville. Fabulous zoo, but I don't know where Knoxville is in relation to Gaitlinburg?

Hmmm.... I'm not really sure either.  When I get my map I'll look it up!

I'm off to search online for a hotel.... I haven't made it over to the AAA office yet!  I'm hoping to find a cheap hotel with a kitchenette so we can eat some meals in the room.

Knoxville is about 35 miles from the Pigion Forge exit
