How long to save for Disney World?
DH and I are taking the boys to Disney World in September of 2009. I want to start saving now. Is this too early? Is there such a thing? I want to have $6000 saved. (I don't think we'll need it, but I want the cushion.)
Any game plans or experience? -

You'll find a lot of info at allearsnet.com and wdwinfo.com. Both of those sites are a wealth of information
I know a lot of people save for a long time. One thing you might want to consider is whether you'll get a package or not. If you wouldn't be booking a package, you may want to get your tickets as soon as you can. The prices seem to go up every year. The same tickets we got would cost us about $100 more pp now. HTH

We went for 9 days in 2003. We used hotelmarta.com to book a gorgeous room at the renaisance world resort on I drive for 52 a night (talking 2 folks at the hot tub they paid over 100 for the same room).
I used www.disboards.com alot and got some great seaworld discounts from a member there. There is a budget board there also.
We spent 5000. We spent 3 days with the hopper passes at Disney, went to Universal studios, Sea World, Cocoa Beach and quite a few other thing and rented a car for the entire trip. 400 of the 5000 was airfare since DB is a pilot and we could use buddy passes back then.
Disney says no carryins. However we carried in bottled water every day with no problems at all along with small snacks.
We found the same souveniers on I drive for 1/4 the price of on Disneys premesis. It was a lovely trip paid in cash and totally worth it!
I don't think you are over-shooting figuring 6000$. Anyways if you have extra you don't need all the better! -

We went and for 5 of us we spent around $3000. That was for 7 days at the All Star Sports hotel with park hopper passes and food. Plus gas to get there.
Another time we went and spent less because we stayed off of the Disney property. Most of your expenses will be for your hotel and park tickets. -

Never too early to start saving. Plus, once you've saved all the $$ for your trip then you can start saving for something else!
