We are planning for the extra costs. When we visit family in the states, we're going to get gas gift cards with our debit card points.

For driving around here to visit, we'll pack our own food and snacks in coolers rather than eating at quick serve or fast food restraunts to save money.

I know that we'll be taking DD to the zoo for the first time and we'll probably take our camper out (we recovered it last year after it was stolen in 2004! We still need to clean it up a bit though). We went to New England back last fall and I'd LOVE to go back, but gas is toooo much! The beach sounds nice, but DH HATES it. I'd also like to take DD to the ocean.

We have a seasonal campsite, so we're not hauling our rv(1978..loll. HEAVY) around. So the only gas is to and from. We'll off set it by not driving all over during the week. I don't anyway. We'll sepend every weekend and 2 1 week periods out there, then it's time for back to school. I'll budget for a little more in gas, but we just downsized our van to a more fuel effecient that that will offset.

we are vacationing and living on the cheap so when my husband gets the opportunity to retire in a few years, he can...
which means staying out of debt.

We don't go on vacation, pretty much just stay at home or trips to the inlaws house on the lake. Couple of homebodies here.

We are not altering our plans. We still have the two trips to Disney planned. One in September and the other in December. Those are 476 mile one way trips. In the past I have budgeted $200 per trip for gas, but I have upped that to $350.

We will also head to the beach a few times between now and November. Since we have free accomodations there these are inexpensive trips for us.
The beach we go to is only a 180 miles from here. I have always budgeted $100 per trip for gas on these, but I upped it to $175.

Plus, DS plays travel baseball and we could have as many as 10 weekend trips out of town for his games from April to July. Most of these are within 100 miles of home so not so bad. These trips vary in distance first. Second, they could be a one, two or three day tournament. So it all depends on number of days, whether we get hotel rooms, or just travel back and forth each day. Two weeks ago we had one 45 miles from home we drove back and forth for. It was a three day tournament and cost around $275 for everything. Gas was $100 of that.

Those already got cut out years ago. This year the rising food and fuel costs are more likely to affect my normal weekday habits. I seriously may start biking to work - which would be good for me, but I would not like it.

No changes for us. There will just be less spent
    on the extra's.

We cancelled our vacation plans for this summer. The cost of propane (this was before gsa went sky high) scared me and my budget!

I think I may have a 6 day vacation that fell into our laps. I have a training opportunity through work that became available. I would need to take 2 days of training in North Carolina (right on the Ocean, don't ya know!) Work would pay for the vehicle, gasoline, and lodging, so DH and kids can tag along for the price of food and entertainment! I hope it all works out!

We are planning a week in middle May travelling IN, about 4 days in PA early Aug, and a week in Sept for sure. We have a Ford Ranger with a truck camper. Little, but does the job.

The last vacation I ever had/went on was in 1982, my Junior year of high school. I chose "other" for that reason.

We were wanting to go for a little road trip...daydreaming... Something not too far...like Homer, AK (about a 5 hour drive, one way). But between gas and increased motel costs...we'll just have to pass.

    Hmmm...daydreaming is too expensive now???

The only reason we are going on vacation is because it is our honeymoon. Otherwise we would be camping instead for fun during the summer. We already dumped the idea of getting a hotel room for our wedding night. We are just going to come home instead. I would rather save the $200.00
