I should try these with Lauren. She's expressed an interest in origami lately.

These are cute. I'll have to show DD (7) who really enjoys simple origami and paper cutting.
She and I are planning on attending a Valentines Day party for homeschoolers on Friday. We've been making homemade Valentine 'flowers' to hand out as follows:
Cut small red hearts out of construction paper. I made a template by cutting out the heart printed on one of those little boxes of Necco candy conversation hearts. It's a bit lopsided but that adds to the charm (that's my story and I'm sticking to it).
We tape four hearts together in the shape of a flower; tape a red heart lollipop in the center, then cut out a heart from green construction paper and tape it onto the lollipop stem (centering so that each lobe of the green heart is one leaf). My daughter prints 'from' on one leaf and her name on the other side.
I asked her where she got this idea and she claims to have made it up herself. They are pretty cute!
edited to say, we got the lollipops at the dollar store, a bag of 15 or so for a dollar each. DD, bless her heart, made me check the label and make sure they weren't made in China (they were made in Costa Rica).Last edited by xtena; 02-11-2009 at 07:31 PM.
