$2000 wedding
I was clicking thru cyber space and came across this site.(hope it hasn't been posted) I really enjoyed reading how they really personalized every part of their wedding and went out of their way to envolve family and friends.
I also loved that they worked so hard to do it all within a very modest budget. Hope this site will help you or someone you know plan their wedding.

We did much the same thing with our wedding. I didn't want the white plastic cookie-cutter ceremony everyone else was having. We planned it more like a family reunion. I made my dress ($200), had a small cake ($75), spent $300 on reception food, rented the chapel for $100, and paid the judge $100. A retired photographer friend-of-a-friend did our pictures for $500. There were a few more expenses, but the whole thing came in under $2000. And we got so many comments on how beautiful and personal it was.
Stop trying to organize all of your family’s crap. If organization worked for you, you’d have rocked it by now. It’s time to ditch stuff and de-crapify your world.
If you're not using the stuff in your home, get rid of it. You're not going to start using it more by shoving it into a closet.
Use it up, Wear it out,
Make it do, Or do without. ~unknown
Because we, the people, have the power to build a better future. KH

I think our wedding was well under 2000....15 years ago. The most expensive thing was the photos. We were married in the rose garden of a local mansion and had about 30 guests. No music, per say....we had bagpipes!

Thanks for the link - was a fun read. I love how couples make their weddings personal and catered to them vs bending to the social standard of a grand affair
The fact that it was under $2k is a bonus!

Aww thanks! *hugs*
With regards to any wedding for DF and I - I have all sorts of ideas floating in my head - from reality to fantasy but not one thing sticks out yet lol. But I like how this bride did it 'their way' and stayed under budget or stuck pretty close to it and how they incorporated everyone. Sheesh if I cooped up our families in a resort like that - chaos would occur lol.
LOVED the name tag idea though - so you had something to talk about with the new family in laws. Clever girl!

Tacky in your book, maybe -- but apparently not to the wedding couple.
I have a cousin, that hates to dance. . . so we played volleyball in the park for her reception instead.
It really should be about what the couple likes, wants, etc. . . instead of what's "expected"

You can play volleyball anytime. That is tacky too.
A wedding should be a dignified affair not a memorial day picnic.

LOL I love how people critique peoples lives. They should pay more attention to their own. It is not about the WEDDING it is about the life together they are starting. I went to the justice of the peace payed for the license and said our vows. I wanted to be Mrs Hernandez not Mrs Queen for a day. We are happier for it .lol
