Sunday I got 2 gallons of past-the-sell-by-date milk and 3 six packs of flavored yogurt, also past the date.
I'm the director of religious education in our parish, and we also serve breakfast or snacks to students after Mass on Sunday mornings. We have benefited quite a bit lately from food donations from parishioners. Some of the things must have been near the sell-by date when we got them, and then after the holidays when we returned to classes, there was quite a bit that we couldn't serve to the students: milk, yogurt and packaged blueberry and chocolate chip muffins. Usually when we get perishable donations (like bags and bags and bags of bananas recently, or too many breakfast taquitos left over), or things expressly not for breakfast (like lemons from someone's trees), I tell the kids to stop back by the breakfast room after classes to take some home to their families. And this time with the things being expired, I only offered them to adults - parents who happened to be around, and teachers who could make a judgement call about the dates. We gave away quite a bit! Before, I've always managed to give it all away and have never taken anything home. So I was really happy that I got some of it this time. :) The sour milk will go into Irish Soda Bread, pancakes and cornbread. The yogurt is being eaten up quickly by the two grandsons and I.

Well, honestly, my start to this month is meek, but I'm blessed by whatever free I get, so I'll start with what we've gotten so far:
*Free box of whole wheat Stove Top Chicken from my sister (today)
*Free financial help from my sister (she's amazing to help me with my budget/finances, and I'd have to pay a lot for someone professionally, so I'm counting it! *g*
*Free coupon book for an ice cream place as a Christmas gift given to us late
As I get more, I'll post. This is always one of my favorite threads. I love to see how God blesses everyone each month!

We were blessed again today. Friends of my #2 son and daughter-in-law, are friends with the Hostess delivery man in the next (larger) town. He gives them loads of expired or almost expired products frequently. So they came over to my son's this evening and left them LOTS of it, too. After they left, and DIL put up as much as she could, filling her freezer, they called me to come over and get the rest. I ended up with:
39 fruit pies (the individual kind)
2 large pkgs. of cherry rolls
2 large packages of cupcakes
3 snack packs of cupcakes
13 packs of mini doughnuts
a large bag of mini chocolate doughnuts
9 packs of sweet rolls
6 packs of streusel cakes
3 packs of pecan rolls
1 pack of twinkies
5 muffin loaves
5 packs of zingers
2 HUGE blueberry muffins
1 fudge brownie and
1 honeybun.
I definately don't need all these calories, but I ate one individual banana nut loaf and put as much as I could of the things DH will eat in the freezer. I plan on passing a good bit of these on to families who will also use it.
