What did you get for free in October 2012?
Nobody started this month yet, so I get to start my first thread!
Yesterday I attended a seminar. It was free to attend and the "goody bags" included a reusable shopping bag, a water bottle, a special notebook for record keeping, a pen and notepad, and two books--one of which I've been meaning to buy. They also provided lunch (chick fil-a wraps, fruit, cookies, and lemonade.)

Ok, this one's a bit weird. Today I got package--addressed to me-- dubbing me (I kid you not) a "Moshi Monsters SUPER FAN!!!" I'm not even entirely sure what a Moshi monster is... DD8 signed up for an online account and must have put my information where hers belonged (I remember having to click a link to give her permission to get th account.) So anyway, she was thrilled to get mail-- and inside there were two identical comic books, two sets of stickers, and some codes she can use to get "free monsters" in her online game... and since there were doubles of almost everything, she was able to share with DD5... Alas, there was only ONE little pony toy (about the size of a squinky) and DD5 found it first... we worked that out by saying it was not a monster, it was a my little pony, and therefore more DD5's speed than DD8.
I won't be running out to buy them more, but I do appreciate free toys and stickers in the mail... it made her day!

One of my husband's friends' fiance got a pair of pants and after she tore the tags off realized they didn't fit. So she passed along a brand new pair of pants to me for free.
I got 2 buckets and 3 laundry baskets full of apples for free to do canning with
When my Dad moved last weekend, he told me that anything in the basement was free for all (most of the items used to be my Grandma's before she passed away). So I got over 100 canning jars, a few new planters for the yard, some gardening tools, some large glass jars to store pantry basics in, some vintage-ey stuff that I put around my house as decorations, a large cast iron pot, and a large bookshelf.
I remembered that I had some points saved up in both my Pampers and Huggies Rewards accounts, so I logged in and found that both accounts had much more than I thought! I cashed in for a Melissa & Doug puzzle, a toy flashlight, a basketball hoop set for the bathtub and a thermal lunch tote - I'm setting them all aside for Christmas
I contacted the company that makes one of my son's most favorite snacktime foods and let them know how much he loves their product. They mailed me a free full sized product! I was so surprised!

I am jealous of all those apples - we have had a bad year around here, none on the trees.
Jealous of rummaging in Grandma's cellar too!!
I got a nice green/white spatterware enamel square cake pan, very pretty. And some eggs from my neighbor. It is his birthday Friday so I am going to bring him some cookies. His wife has Alzheimers, his kids are not close, so I don't know if anyone will remember his birthday. He is in his 80's and is a very nice guy.

brought cookies down to neighbor for his birthday, came back with 7 eggs, some potato soup, and cheesecake - Yum! He is a good cook. But it snowed/hailed most of the way there and back (1.5 miles each way, walking).
Today he left magazines in my mailbox.

On Thursday, got a $10 off/$10+ coupon emailed from JCPenney. Haven't been there since they adopted their new "our prices are our prices, and if you don't like it, kiss off!" policy... but I took their coupon and "bought" a necklace and earring set, totally free, no tax or anything. Cashier was surprised. Anyway, that will be "To Auntie, from DDs5 and 8" for Christmas.
Also took DD8 to TRU because she wanted new pokemons and I felt like giving her a gift... well, between coupons, I saved a dollar off the pokemons and got a pair of tights for dance-class free.
ETA: oh, and free popcorn at the movies this weekend and last, using coupons from my $5-about-to-expire Entertainment books.

Today I got a SYWR email saying I had a free $5 to spend at KMart in the Halloween section, and DD9 has been waiting patiently for temporary color hair spray she saw there a while back, so we stopped in and she got two of those for $2.99 each... I had planned to pay the $.98 difference with a store credit I have, but the cashier didn't know how to do that, so she just took it all out of my SYWR points... on the upside, there wasn't any tax that way.
