We got an $8 gift box of snack meats from one of our grocery stores. The owner stopped my husband on his way out the door last night, gave him the box, and said, "Merry Christmas." I had already gone outside. We were both amazed! How nice of her! We froze the three packages that came in the box for camping next summer.

That's cheating, you have to say WHAT free groceries
Unless it was a coupon for future trip... Then you have to prove your frugalyness by stacking all kinds of sales and coupons to buy an AMAZING amount of stuff with it. Like your $.10 potatoes... dare you to buy 100lbs of potatoes (just how big IS your dehydrator???) ;P
C'mon now, we're nosy!!!Or at least, I am!

One hanging shoe rack. Ended up placing it on a wall inside my closet. Wow, can't believe how much better it is not having a mess of shoes on the closet floor. Now to get rid of stuff in the closet!!!

Best freebie ever, but I don't know if it should go on the list for January or May. My work just paid for my plane ticket to Berlin, Germany and my hotel room for 10 days in May. I still have to work during my time there, but to not have to pay anything to get/stay there is an awesome freebie. Now to find a free book on learning German!

Today's freebies, while nowhere near as awesome as a free trip to Germany (JEALOUS!!!) were very good, though delayed.
What is a delayed freebie? A Free-after-rebate. But it's ok, in fact, it's AWESOME. I'll explain
Today I went to staples and got:
-1 ream of white multipurpose paper
-2 400-packs pastel printer paper
- 2 packs of photo paper
- 8 pack of Bounty basic paper towels
I paid $53.74 with tax, and in 4-6 weeks will receive a rebate of $54.95... making all that stuff free, PLUS I made $1.21, PLUS I had a coupon for 25% back in staples rewards, so I'll get a certificate for $12.67 after the beginning of next month (along with another $6 for recycling some printer cartridges around mid-month.)
I just learned yesterday that you can use the "rewards" to pay for free-after-rebate items and you will get the item for nothing out of pocket, then receive a check in the mail!!!I gotta try this!
Oh, and I charged it on my Discover, so I'll get $.53 back from that as well... and yes, Mom, when the rebate checks come, I will "save" that money. I've decided I will deposit them in my savings account toward my $10k goal, so I'm putting $54.95 in savings but it's only costing me $53.74 to do so... $1.21 on a $53 investment is about a 2% return in 4-6 weeks... not shabby at all!(Alas, once it's IN the bank, the APR is .0000000000000001% or something about that pathetic...)
